  3. I voted for the Tigers. McClain's season was too much to ignore.
  4. 1968 Tigers 103 - 59 AL Pennant Won World Series (4-3) over St. Louis Cardinals Highlights: It certainly seems this team had a hell of a lot of power on it. Bill Freehan and Norm Cash both had 25 homers, Jim Northrup had 21 and Willie Horton led the team with 36. Horton seemed to have the best overall season with those 36 homers, 85 Rbis and a .285 average. Eddie Mathews and Al Kaline were on the team also. The Pitching really overshadows the hitting on this team. Denny McClain had his unforgettable season with 31 wins to his 6 losses, a 1.96ERA, 280 strikeouts with 28 complete games. He also had 6 shutouts with 73 ERs in 336IP. This season ranks up there with the best of all time. All 4 starting pitchers had over 10 wins with ERAs under 4. Alou had 23, Sheffield had 21, Charles Johnson had 19, Jeff "Steve" Conine had 17, and Bonilla had 17 as well. Moises Alou had the best overall season for the Fish, in my opinion. He batted .292 with 23 homeruns, 29 doubles, with 115 runs batted in. Bobby Bonilla had 39 doubles and batted .297. Kevin Brown had the best season out of the starters. He went 16 - 8, 2.69 ERA and 205ks. He also had a no hitter that year. Closer Robb Nen had 35 Saves with a 3.89 ERA. All Stars: Moises Alou Kevin Brown Charles Johnson
  5. 1919 White Sox 88 - 52 AL Pennant Lost the World Series 5 games to 3 to the Cincinnati Reds Highlights: Best known for the Black Sox scandal of 1919 when the team threw the Series for money. Should have been Hall of Famers "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and Eddie Ciccotte were banned from baseball for life. Shoeless Joe Jackson batted .351, had 7 homeruns, 14 Triples and 96 Rbis. Eddie Collins batted .319 with 33 Steals. Nemo Leibold also batted over .300 with a mark of .302 Eddie Ciccotte had an unbelievable season in 1919. He went 29 - 7, a 1.82 ERA, 30 Complete Games and only gave up 62 Earned runs in 306.7 IP. That season is mindboggling. Ciccotte's season overshadowed Lefty Williams spectacular year. He also had over 20 wins with 23 with 11 losses and 27 Complete Games. No All-Star game prior to 1933. 1996 Braves 96 - 66; First in the NL East Won NL Division Series (3-0) over Los Angeles Dodgers Won NL Championship Series (4-3) over St. Louis Cardinals Lost World Series (4-2) to New York Yankees Highlights: Ryan Klesko led the team in homeruns with 34. John Smoltz had the best season of the three overall. His record was 24 - 8 to go along with that great ERA. His 276 strikeouts were very impressive as well. 9. Well, He had a fight of the year with Mickey Ward and the rematch was unbelievable as well. He showed heart and a ton of skill in those fights but I guess he was just outmatched here.
  10. He landed TEN punches the whole fight? Where was the guy who was fighting Ward?
  11. The Nationals because they're the only unproven team.
  12. *slowly claps then coughs*
  13. May Day: Gatti Suffers Beating Floyd Mayweather Unbeaten Floyd Mayweather ran his record to 34-0 with a vicious beating of Arturo Gatti tonight in Atlantic City. The fight was stopped by Gatti's corner after six rounds; Gatti's left eye was swollen shut as Mayweather won the WBC junior welterweight title. I was gonna order the fight but I'm glad I didn't. I really liked Gatti coming in and despised Mayweather for his endless trash talking. Well, he backed it up and more tonight I suppose.

  22. Thanks again, all. I had to tell my mom when she called me today. She had no clue so it hit her really hard. The funeral will be at 1pm on Sunday. It's a shame it takes a death to get all the family together.
