  1. Mets just better today. When their big three hit like that they are hard to beat. The good: Sanoja, Hicks, Hill, Conine all had solid games. The bad: Gillispie never looked comfortable. Stowers plate discipline was awful. The ugly: Calvin Faucher needs to get his confidence back. He'll be glad to not see the Mets, and Alonso, for awhile. Minnesota Max pitching tomorrow to avoid the sleep then we can get the heck out of this miserable town.
  2. He has been playing shallow all day. I'm guessing because of the winds.
  3. Let's see what Arias can do here facing the top of the lineup.
  4. Two hits for the Snowman. Need to get him in a rhythm. The Mets might have three of the top five players in the league at the 1-2-3 spots. Just tough to get past them if they are all on.
  5. No argument there. Let's get out of this miserable weather and miserable city and get back to sunshine. Derek Hill playing a game today. What a catch!
  6. Hicks too.
  7. That's the Brazoban we know and love. Derek Hill with the homer out of nowhere.
  8. Useful bullpen arms in AAA: Pushard, Roa, Simpson, Rooney (L), Seth Martinez. Injured bullpen arms: Cronin, Nardi. Have a feeling we are going to see a bit of a rotating cast throughout the year, especially if we can't get any starters to go deep.
  9. Tough luck on that blooper from Marte. Umps had been calling low strikes all series and they don't give Curry that one right before the hit.
  10. Finally figured out who Xzavion Curry looks like. He is a dead ringer for wrestler Jay Lethal.
  11. Kelly Saco went to Syracuse. This is like a summer day for her.
  12. Faucher has been George Soriano levels of awful. Feels like that Alonso homer has taken him mentally out of his game. He's always been an all or Nothing strikeout guy and I thought he'd be our closer. He might end up being Jacksonville's closer at this rate.
  13. Holmes is dialed in now. We needed to work the count more early to get his pitch count up.
  14. Gillispie struggled, understandable with the wind and weather, but he battled and at least kept us in the ballgame. He's not the most enjoyable pitcher to watch with his twitching and milking of the pitch clock.
  15. They moved the game up last night because of the terrible weather, wind chill and all.
  16. X is playing through a bit of pain right now I think. Our base running as a whole has been a huge negative so far this year.
  17. Lopez has been ice cold lately. Fortunately, his defense has been absolutely stellar.
  18. Dammit Stowers, stop swinging at the first pitch. Make this guy work.
  19. Let's go fish. Let's f'in go.
  20. Ump squeezing Gillispie, gets behind in count. At least it was a solo shot.
  21. Hill first pitch swinging as well! Make him throw strikes. Smacks head.
  22. Stowers can't be first pitch swinging. No one should be today. Holmes has control issues and the wind is going to play havoc today.
  23. LGF LFG! I'm hoping this is Sanoja's breakout game. He's struggled so far this year. On a more somber note, RIP Octavio Dotel. Former Met and played for 13 teams in long career. Died when a roof collapsed in the DR. It was late 90s and me and a buddy go to see an afternoon AAA game in Norfolk, Virginia. Dotel was pitching for the Tides and it was the single-most dominant performance I have ever seen. He had a perfect game through 8 2/3 and had 20 strikeouts, totally in command. Last out up, stadium is going nuts and Bob Hamelin pinch hits. Hamelin cranks one for a homer and the air goes out of Harbor Park. The next day, Hamelin announces he's retiring. F Bob Hamelin for that, lol.
  24. Gillispie-Holmes tomorrow. Mets should have to forfeit or build a dome because of the weather. Thanks for making me get up early again.
  25. Felt like that was McCullough throwing Soriano out there to sink or swim. To keep the water metaphor, might be time to cut bait. Wagaman is a placeholder. As long as he isn't taking at bats away from Mervis or Pauley, I'm ok with him until the bats in AAA are ready which because of service time will be June at the earliest.
