I just watched last night's Rome and I thought it was the season. The whole Servilia thing was awesome. This show is great but I think they could do a better job of telling us the time frame. It feels kind of disjointed at times. Cassius and Brutus still around? What exactly is there goal now? Why fight Antony? Last we saw Cicero he was leaving Rome and all of a sudden he's back in Rome and as the head of the senate? Who is the current consul? I'm just along for the ride until the show rides off into the sunset. I wished they wouldn't rush it that much though (even though they have to; to some degre).

There is only 7 episodes left in the series. It's going to focus on the rise of Octavian and then several other story lines (i'm guessing). It's a shame it is isn't coming back for a 3rd season. Can't believe HBO is ending 4 shows in a little over a year's time (Deadwood, Rome, Sopranos, Wire).

An update on Lane Garrison (Tweener). Prison Break actor Lane Garrison had cocaine and more than twice the legal blood alcohol level in his system after a fatal car crash last month and should be charged with felony vehicular manslaughter, police said Wednesday. Garrison, 26, was involved in an accident that killed a 17-year-old male passenger. Two 15-year-old girls, who were also in the car, were both injured – one critically. Beverly Hills police turned over the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, but no decision has been made about whether Garrison will be prosecuted. "We're reviewing it now," says DA spokeswoman Jane Robison. At a press conference Wednesday, Beverly Hills police said Garrison's blood alcohol level was .20 percent – more than two times California's .08 percent limit. He also had an undisclosed amount of cocaine his system, according to a blood test. Police recommended that he be charged with gross vehicular manslaughter with an enhancement for causing injury or death to more than one victim. Police also recommended he be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. If convicted of the most serious charge – gross vehicular manslaughter – he faces 10 years in state prison. The other charges would add additional years to the term. On Dec. 2, Garrison, who plays "Tweener" on the FOX jailhouse drama, was driving his Land Rover SUV with three teen-aged passengers when the vehicle struck a tree at 11:52 p.m. Police reported at the time that Garrison displayed "symptoms of alcohol intoxication" and said they found alcohol containers in the SUV, which was registered to him. In an interview with PEOPLE, Garrison's attorney, Harland Braun, denounced police for announcing the drug and alcohol test results before showing them to him and before the DA made a decision on charges. "It's a perversion of the system," he says. "It's a police trial." After the accident, the attorney had said the actor had a margarita with dinner but was not driving under the influence and was knocked unconscious in the crash. Braun also had pointed to a possible problem with the brakes. Asked if he stuck by that account, Braun said, "He had one margarita and then a couple of drinks at (a) party, and that's what he remembers. I want to see the scientific evidence." Braun has said Garrison met the teens that night at a grocery store, where they invited him to attend a party. At the time of the accident, he said, the group was leaving the gathering and Garrison was driving them back to the store. Anyone catch the irony?

I finally saw this. I'm not sure where I'd put it just yet. But I really enjoyed it.

I like science fiction and fantasy films. 2001: A Space Odyssey is my favorite film of all time. I'm not a Star Wars fan either, but I at least admire their entertainment value and the love Lucas had for his characters. I dislike Lord of the Rings because I don't think it was constructed well cinematically. They weren't shot well, edited well, too CG relient, and were lumbering adaptations of novels that admittedly were difficult to bring to the screen. Some of the CG is composited well, but that's all there is to admire from a technical viewpoint. Unfortunately, I would have rather seen less battle scenes and more characterization. And note, I'm not bashing this film because it employed CGI. Kubrick wanted to film the trilogy himself but deemed it to be impossible given the technical limitations of the time. I just happen to think that Peter Jackson is a hack who throws his characters under a bus in favor of "epic" action sequences. His recent revival of King Kong was a disgrace for those reasons. It's highly ironic that out of all of the Oscar nominations the three films received, it only received a single nomination for an acting award (supporting). It's an ensemble movie as are most Fantasy films.

Wow. This is probably the least excited I've been about the Oscars in a while. I thought LAST year was the low point for Hollywood. Guess I was wrong. On the plus side - there were no nostalgia nominations for Rocky Balboa! I don't think the Academy should ever honor someone twice for the same role. Just my opinion though. I happen to think this upcoming Oscars is going to be great. There is no clear winner for best picture and that's always a good thing.

I guess I'd better check out Babel. I had heard more bad than good from friends and lost interest. I still plan on seeing The Queen and maybe Letters From Iwo Jima. I think The Departed deserved a nomination, and out of this group maybe it should win, but it's certainly not my choice for best picture of the year. For me, Little Miss Sunshine just wasn't that good. I enjoyed it but came away disappointed. Penguin, you didn't see Dreamgirls, right? I'm not defending it. No way it deserves a Best Picture nom. But if you didn't see it, what do you care? If you did see it, I'll just shut up now. J-Hud is probably a lock for the supporting actress. I agree that Children of Men does not deserve a screenplay nomination. One of the rare movies where it's quality is basically independent of what was put down on paper. And as for Clint Mansell not getting a music nom, I have no idea...I guess the Academy hated that movie. He ought to run away with that category. The movie was like one long music video, and the music was notably good throughout. I did like the Pan's Labyrinth score, but it was basically two bars of music repeated endlessly. I really really liked Babel. I would put it as number 2 right after The Departed. My list will be up whenever I get to see Letters from Iwo Jima.

The Justice League episode is tonight. I can't wait even though I'm not a regular viewer of the show.

I just got through the first cycles of POVs and this is great! I'm really liking the structure so far. They introduced so many characters in the first few pages alone but I'm getting the hang of it.
