July 30, 200620 yr I have been very excited about this movie. I'll definitely be seeing it. It's a remake of a Hong Kong movie 'Infernal Affairs' which was apparently one of their best films ever.
July 30, 200620 yr I, like Bryan have been following this for a while. It has such an absurdly good cast and I'm a fan of all the male leads (Nicholson, Leo, Damon, Wahlberg). That trailer had a horrible choice of music but some good footage. I expect this thing to be awesome.
July 30, 200620 yr I actually saw Infernal Affairs (working at Blockbuster you notice EVERY movie that comes through, even the smallest titles and foreign films). I liked it, and I am interested to see how this one goes.
August 16, 200620 yr Still ridiculously excited about this movie, however, I hate that poster. Way too cluttered.
October 6, 200619 yr Well, it's officially the best reviewed wide-release movie of the year coming in with a sparkling 96% tomatometer. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/departed/ Seeing it tomorrow at 3 PM EST. Will be back with a review tomorrow night. ANYONE ELSE PUMPED?
October 6, 200619 yr Si, I'm either going tommorrow night or Saturday haven't decided but I'm leaning with Saturday. Can't f***ing wait.
October 7, 200619 yr Author Has anyone seen it yet? I don't know when I will but I know I'm going to love it.
October 7, 200619 yr Author Ahem... 10/10. Full review tomorrow. Must-see. A classic. Coming from you, I'm absolutely ecstatic now. You are usually a lot tougher than I am when grading movies and I've grown to respect your reviews.
October 8, 200619 yr Very good film. Lots of twists and turns, funny moments, and just good old fashioned mob violence. Either Nicholson or DiCaprio has to get a Best Actor nomination this year.
October 9, 200619 yr I'd rank the performances as: 1. Nicholson 2. Damon 3. DiCaprio With alot of love for Wahlberg.
October 9, 200619 yr Matt Damon was the best actor in this movie. I loved the contrast of character he played compared to previous roles. And man, he was so good I really really really did hate him in the end. Nicholson and DiCaprio were also great, no doubt about that.
October 9, 200619 yr I'd rank the performances as: 1. Nicholson 2. Damon 3. DiCaprio With alot of love for Wahlberg. I'd reverse the list. I thought DiCaprio was flat-out awesome. Wahlberg played his role perfectly, but it wasn't big enough for me to mix him in with the others. The best Oscar prediction site, theoscarigloo, has DiCaprio as the 2nd best candidate for Best Actor and Nicholson as the 2nd best candidate for Best Supporting Actor, fwiw.
October 11, 200619 yr Great movie, right up until the end and here's why: I think the fact that everyone got killed off at the end was a lame way to end it and showed a lack of creativity. Other than that, the whole movie was very very cool. 9/10. Go see it.
October 11, 200619 yr I think the fact that everyone got killed off at the end was a lame way to end it and showed a lack of creativity. No offense, but I don't think you got it. Or the meaning/reasoning behind it.
October 11, 200619 yr i have two questions.. What was the envelope DiCaprio gave the shrink? I thought that was what was going to bring Damon down at the end.. but I do wish they would have revealed what was in it. Also the baby she was pregnant with, Damons or Leo's. My $ is on Leo.
