The Marlins were never going to give Napoli 4/60. He's 32 with a chronic hip issue. You think the Marlins are willing to go 15 mil a year for anyone??? Just think that two years ago we could have traded Morrison for Gio Gonzalez. No. It was LoMo + more and the more had to be a top prospect such as Yelich.That may be true....but I remember that we were specifically unwilling to deal Morrison.

Jones got non tendered for a reason. I agree....I would much rather save the money and trot Morrison out there.

The problem I see with Napoli is that we still won't win THAT many more games with him. Also, how many years will it be until we are legitimate? Why pay Napoli all that money if he will be old and overpaid by the time this team is ready to contend?

Lets compare Heaney to the other pitchers in our system though. Itll be interesting to see how the front office views him compared to Eovaldi, Turner, DeSclafani, Nicolino, Conley, etc. As talented as Heaney is.... if the front office is inclined to believe we have comparable young pitchers maybe they should think to deal him. Those guys aren't comparable to Heaney. I agree....if Heaney is as advertised, he would (quite wonderfully) be able to slide in behind Jose and have every other pitcher slide down a slot.

I don't see why the Cubs would do the trade. They need pitching. Trading their stud hitting prospects for Stanton doesnt accomplish anything for them.

The Marlins also have Jose Fernandez of course but anyone who wants Jose can go fuck themselves. Heaney could be another Jose (not a crazy longshot) Exactly....if anything I'd trade Heaney for an extablished Major Leaguer.

The Marlins have nothing good enough to get Baez unless they're trading Stanton which, quite honestly, is not something I'd be opposed to. It would be Stanton for Baez+ of course, not straight up.

Yeah Baez is a beast but Heaney is going to be special too. Heaney's run in the AFL was a cherry on top of a sweet season he had.

We got Salty, AND didn't have to give him a blank check. Ain't that some shit? Who knows, but don't underestimate the role that being close to home played in this deal.

Where do you guys think Salty will slot into the batting lineup? Obviously more moves could be made, but as of now I don't see how he could hit lower than 5th/6th.
