  1. Uggla, 56 Hits - tied for 5th best in the NL.
  2. Vidro should be the starting NL all-star 2nd baseman by vote. Uggla should be picked by the coaches. Obviously, Utley is right there as well. I think we have a diamond in the rough in Uggla - in the long haul - his value will be priceless for a Rule 5 draft . . . Might go down as one of the better steals in the Rule 5 draft to date. Can anybody name others in years past that have made significant impacts at this level? Hector Luna is one that comes to mind - but he is considered a utility guy.
  3. He's a gamer. An all-star this year in my opinion. Where are the Uggla jerseys in the stands?
  4. Without question Uggla is proving is worth to the Marlins. I think it is time to give him credit for his athletic ability and I believe he won't be satisfied without being an above average big leaguer. Many other teams in the league would use his services. The best thing is we have him for 5 years before a "big" contract would be needed to offer. Ask the St. Louis Cardinals - 2nd baseman are a dime a dozen in this league and would you can get quality innings and at-bats out of a guy on the bottom of the totem pole - it's a done deal. Uggla can compete with the likes of Miquel Cairo, Tony Womack, Hector Luna, Aaron Miles and Mark Grudzielanek anyday. Give credit to the Marlin scouts locating him.
  5. Thanks for the info. All is very appreciated. Looking forward to watching the Marlins and enjoying the Florida sunshine from Illinois. We were hit by a tornado last week and this week a blizzard. It is time to get away. Trying to save a dollar or two so you're help is again appreciated. Go Fish!
  6. Headed down to Spring Training this week and was wondering if we had an update on places to go before and after the games?
  7. What are the chances Mark Little makes the opening day roster?
  8. If he can't contribute in the padres system how do you expect him to impact the Marlins?
  9. Scott Seabol is seeing some time at 2nd base and is a possibility. He is not a Shortstop though. I think he has potential to make the team as a pinch-hitter, 2b/3b back-up
  10. Give a guy credit coming into Spring Training as a Rule V draft and putting up the numbers he has. I think as Marlin fans we need to realize his potential and back him every bit. Realize he has the potential to put up major offensive numbers from the 2nd base position and hit the No. 7 slot in the batting order. How hard is it to find a guy of his potential. In the rebuilding year that we are in, it is an ideal prospect for us. Props to our scouting services to finding this guy. This is the area we need to focus on.
  11. dweller - can you pitch?
  12. Making the all-star team at every level through professional baseball you have to be doing something right.
  13. Thanks for the info. I put those restraunts and Pub in the notes for the trip. Hotels are still a question, does anyone know of any "decent" place for under $100/night? Looking forward to the trip and watching Marlins baseball.
  14. Marlin Fans! I must admit I am a "new" Marlins fan . . . There are some new faces on the roster that I have close relationships with and am excited to see their contribution to the Marlins. I am confident Joe Girardi is the right man for the job and although young, every game will be competitive. I am planning a trip to Jupiter to watch these guys the last week in March. Can anyone help me with the area as far as what to do and places to go besides attendance at Roger Dean Stadium. I know hotels are an arm and a leg in the area . . . what are other options? Your help is appreciated and Go Fish!
  15. Dan Uggla will emerge to be a quality every day position player with the Florida Marlins. Known is his offensive presence and his need for improvement defensively, but the strenght of his game is his versatility. He is a guy that can play 1B-2B-3B-OF and hit 2-3-4-5-6-7 in the line-up. Managers love these types of guys. These types of guys are hard to find. You may recall a guy the St. Louis Cardinals grabbed in the Rule 5 draft two years ago . . . Hector Luna. He has gone on to play an impact role on the Cardinals success the last two years. Uggla reminds me of him. His nickname is "Uggs" and if not in the starting line-up, his contribution to the rebuilding Marlins will be seen for years to come.
