the Braves really have strengthened there relief Pitching, it's a shame there starting pitching still sucks! Tim Hudson is the most over rated Starting pitcher in the buisness! Wait, what does this have to do with anything? I was watching it on TV just a little bit ago , I guess i forgot it was a game thread. Hopefully we'll be 4 under .500 by the end of the day! :thumbup For the Marlins: 1. Ramirez SS 2. Uggla 2B 3. Cabrera 3B 4. Ross CF 5. Willingham LF 6. Helms 1B 7. Borchard RF 8. Olivo C 9. Sanchez P 4-0 3.00 ERA For the Phillie Cheese Steaks: 1. Victorino Cf 2. Utley 2B 3. Abreu RF 4. Howard 1B 5. Dellucci LF 6. Nunez 3B 7. Lieberthal C 8. Sandoval SS 9. Wolf P 0-0 0.00 ERA (first start) Sudden line up change for the phils... Abreu out of lineup, Victorino to RF and Rowand to CF. Could this mean a trade has been made or almost done?

Let's forget about last night and sweep the double header1 I think Borchard should be batting in the 8th spot and Olivo in the 7th, olivo's been hitting pretty good lately.

We should win 4/5 on paper, but you never know w/ these Marlins. The one I have them possibly losing is the second game of the double header w/ moehler vs. Wolf. This is wolf's first start since Tommy Jon surgery. We could possibly win this one too but you don't know what to expect from Moehler and wolf both coming off the DL. It's a toss up.

Anyone worried about Cabs?
I think he did pretty good last night w/ a leadoff double and he did score our first 2 runs which were very big until the lead got bigger! Plus last time he was in a slump he came out of it against the Nats going 4-4 with 2 RBIs. When he dips under .300 then you can start to worry.

Who is your favorite Marlins fan/vendor?
Deffinitley Elephant man! Which one is the guy that has the longer gray hair and Yells "Peanuts, Ice Cold Beer" He also does the Baltimore Oriole Spring Training games in Ft. Lauderdale.

Who gets sent down for Moehler?
Vargas considering he hasn't pitched since that Nationals game he blew and Resop just pitched in the series finale against Atlanta.

SANCHEZ! 4-0!
It may have been a factor in Girardi's thinking that there's alot games left this year and limiting rookie starters' pitch count will extend their effectiveness longer into the season. After all, Sanchez has yet to have even ten starts in the majors and if we should be reminded he began the season with shoulder problems. The myth is that decisions like tonight's are made in a vacuum or on a whim, when in fgact numbersous consideration come into play every time the manager pulls the string on a move. The goal is to win each series and if you lose tonight that's in jeopardy because Smoltz could pitch a gem tomorrow we can't afford to gamble games when we started 11-31 and now trying to overcome that and make the playoffs. With an attitude like it's only 1 out of 162 games it's worth the gamble isn't gonna get us anywhere. I quote Herm Edwards "We play to Win" hahaha Jk about that part.

Girardi Pitching Move
All those people that are saying he made the right move are only saying that because it worked out if it wouldn't have worked out i know everone would be complaining about the move the truth is it was a stupid move he only had 73 pitches with 1 ER through 7 innings and no BB and he was showing no signs of fatigue! It was a bad move and Girardi got lucky.

SANCHEZ! 4-0!
The sick thing to think about is how good this starting five is going to be next year and two years from now?!? :o You can't really say that this might be a one year thing for these guys or injuries. But If all goes well we'll have the best starting rotaion with 4/5 being paid the minimum salary Friday, July 28 Citizens Bank Park | 7:05 PM ET Ricky Nolasco, RHP (8-6, 4.27) Marlins (45-52) @ Brett Myers, RHP (6-4, 3.74) Phillies (44-52) Scouting Report: In his last start, Nolasco turned in arguably his finest performance of the season. The 23-year-old rookie tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings, and matched his career high with seven strikeouts in beating the Pirates. Nolasco tossed a personal high 110 pitches, and was firmly in command, scattering four hits. In his last two starts, he is 2-0, giving up two runs (one earned) in 14 1/3 innings. Myers has looked sharp in each of his two starts since his leave of absence following his domestic assault arrest. In his last outing, he held the Braves to a run on three hits and no walks through eight before a walk and a double in the ninth ended his night. The leave of absence seems to have had no effect on Myers, who looked strong late into the game. Myers has started once against Marlins this year, allowing two runs in six innings in an April 23 win. Saturday, July 29 Citizens Bank Park | 7:05 PM ET Dontrelle Willis, LHP (6-7, 3.97) Marlins (45-52) @ Cole Hamels, LHP (2-5, 5.98) Phillies (44-52) Scouting Report: Coming off a no-decision against the Pirates, Willis strives to even his record. The D-Train last won on July 7 against the Mets. Willis continues to log innings. He has gone at least six innings in 13 consecutive starts. This season the left-hander is 0-1 against the Phillies. On May 1, he gave up eight runs in 7 1/3 innings. Hamels had a strange and eventful outing his last time out in a loss to Atlanta. Hamels struck out 12 Braves in his first two trips through the batting order. He struck out the side in the first, third and fourth innings, but everything changed in the fifth, as he gave up five runs on four hits and a walk. He left the game after giving up seven runs in 5 1/3 innings. Hamels, who will face the Marlins for the first time, now has 62 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings. I think we got the first two. what do you all think? They both can go either way. We might not be able to score on Hamels. Yeah but Hammels fell apart in his last outing against the braves after seeing them the 3rd time.

I think we're close enough now that all the trade rumors involving Borowski can be safely put to rest. We need him on our side It all comes down to whether or not this team can contend or not. I'd say not. No you have it wrong....people don't think they can contend. But we have just as much TALENT on our roster as any team in the majors (yes even the Yankees...our pitching is better). After a 11-31 start, we have been one of the best teams in baseball. In 2003, we turned it around. In 2005 the Astros turned it around.....never say never! Meh, the Marlins have won 4/5 from two easy teams. They looked pretty uggla against the real playoff teams like the Yankees and Red Sox. They were tired. The all-star break is exactly what they needed. I'm sure the Marlins can win the series. The other teams played the same number of games. This rotation is looking good but I think its inexperience will break them down the stretch. Look how Dontrelle struggled in the playoffs back in 2003. Thankyou Mr. Optimism! :mad :thumbdown

It could have went either way, anyways... I wouldn't consider Atlanta an easy team they've been very hot as of late! Correct me if i'm wrong but they won the series against the cards. :hat
