My argument is both the original projected rotation in 2013 and the actual opening day roster are better than the 2006 rosters rotation. The argument that JJ was in the opening day 2006 rotation is a false one. He earned a bullpen spot, not a rotation slot. He does not apply to the argument. He is irrelevant to the topic. They dont have the high upside you are proclaiming they do. Fernandez has a ton of potential but was very rushed(ala the Tigers with Miller, Porcello, and Turner), and its very hard to say how he will do. The point is going into the season- aka April 1st not May 30th- the rotation was weaker in 2006. The problem w/ these lists is that there's never a clear rubric for the selection, and even if there is, people generally can't agree on the criteria (for example, Mike Lowell has the longevity w/ the team and position as well as the defense, Miggy put up the better offensive #'s but not all at 3B; which is more important in terms of the best franchise 3B?) JJ was in the bullpen. He wasn't in the rotation on opening day or the month of April. What difference does that make? Alvarez and Eovaldi aren't even technically on the 25 man roster right now and won't pitch a game in April. The point was that the 2006 team had Johnson and Anibal available and those guys ultimately contributed to the team's relative success. It makes no difference whether or not they were in the rotation on opening day. Keep trollin bro, its obvious you can't read.
