Adriano, The Emperor
luca: adriano is better than ronnie believe that and you have nothing to worry about 525763 Yeah, Adriano is great but since Ronie was an Inter player I am just imagining the Fenomenous and the Emperor playing together for us!!! Can't wait to see Brazil with them and Kaka behind!!!

Olympic Basketball Quarter finals Matchups
Comments from Carlo RECALCATI (ITA) Carlo RECALCATI (ITA) - head coach On the teams performance: "I'm very satisfied because we fought hard against Argentina. We defended well and tried not to allow them to score easily. Unfortunately we faced some injuries and MIAN will not be playing against Puerto Rico, while BASILE and ROMBALDONI will hopefully be fit. We are hoping to achieve something good before the end of the tournament. We are looking at each game individually". RECALCATI also referred to their next opponent: "I believe that the differences between the teams of the group are very slight. Puerto Rico is a tough team in this tournament, but we will try to face them. Lithuania is one of the favourites for a medal in the Olympics". Italy is facing Puerto Rico in the Quarterfinal on 26 August at the Olympic Indoor Hall at 20:00. ONS ns/am/is

Greece Vs USA - Basketball Game
it is so hard for me to believe playersrefuse to play at Olympics!!! 515783 i know what your saying and i agree with it. at the same time though i do recognize that these guys play 82 games a season and some get to the playoffs and some make a deep run till june so i do understand why they would want some time off. with that said, it still frustrates me when they turn down a spot on the team. 515789 Of course I can understand the clubs point of view!!!! I still have clear in my mind when Inter soccer player Ronaldo came back from the World Cup played with Brazil very late, with bad injury and a lot of trouble and missed a great part of the season. Clubs pay a lot of money for top players and from their point of view national teams can be a damage. That's th reason why the Cardinals did not allowed Jason Simontacchi to play for Italy in this Olympics!!! But Olympics should be an honor to play at!!!

Congratulations Iraq!
Argentina VS Italy Tough game for Italy. 514770 Italy is playing with Paraguay tomorrow night!!! Last game of the 1st leg. If win will be quilified for quarterfinal and playing vs Mali or Korea. Iraq is to play against Morocco for the last game of the 1st leg, and in the quarter against Argentina or Australia (depending id 1st or 2nd). 515405 True. Paraguay has to beat Italy to qualify to next round. 515432 Well, I am sure it could happen since italians are so spoiled. But I know very well the paraguyan central defender, Gamarra. He plays for my favourite team, Inter, and if he is quick my name is Carl Lewis!!! Said that, anything can happen but I think a tie would be enough for italy to get quarter

Greece Vs USA - Basketball Game
I simply would love to see the best players in all sports. It make no sense to me to win a medal for istance in baseball if the major players are not playing Olympics. If they do that changes everything in baseball as nationa competitions. In basketball the drea team arrived maybe because of a loss but to see usa is an honor: it is so hard for me to believe playersrefuse to play at Olympics!!!

Greece Vs USA - Basketball Game
I m watching the game!! I am sure Usa will win the Olympics but why did not select the real best Usa team?? 515720 the US won't win the Basketball gold medal, that's a fact! we just played another pathetic game. Greece sucks, they aren't even a top 10 team, and we played horrendous basketball against them. bad passes, bad defense, poor free throws...I'm happy we won, don't get me wrong, but this should've been a comfortable 15-20 point victory! 515724 I understand what you mean! Usa seems a normal team and as normal team can win or lose! I would have brought the best players!!! 515727 the best didnt want to go and the nba just threw a bunch of young recognizable names to sell jerseys. got to play with the cards we're dealt. 515731 In nba shoes I would have choosen the bests and did everything to have a real dream team!! More than ever after what happen in Indianapolis last year!

XXVIII Olympics
I was surprised and impressed with Italy's victory over the USA in volleyball. Lucaze, correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't know Italy was a "powerhouse" in volleyball! I know about China, Cuba, Russia, etc., but Italy? 514422 Italy in the early 90s built up not only a good volleyball team but a dynasty! When the argentinian coach Julio Velasco (now italian citizen) arrived to coach the national team he simply brought a new mentality not only in volleyball but in all the italian sports. Velasco created the very famous "tiger eyes" sentence meaning he always want his players to fight!!! And Italy in volleyball really changed his mentality!!! He created not only great players but fighters ready to believe to win till it?'s over. Then he took care on the junior teams!!! That was simply the winning step. So surprising everybody Italy won the European cup with a bunch of young and unknown players!! That was just the beginning!!! Learning a lot from Team Usa coached by Doug Beal in the following years Italy ruled the volleyball world creating a perfect team able to win any game. Italy won 3 consecutive World Champions (90, 94, 98), 4 European Champions, 7 World League (on 11 played!!!), 2 World Cups and dozens of minor throphis. The Italian league became (and still is) the most competitive in the world, all best talented players plays for italian clubs which obviously rules the euro cups (even if lately many teams do not plays euro cups just to concentrate on the Italian league). But Italy never won the Olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In Barca 92 lost in semifinal against Holland, after dominating never losing the previous 3 years. In Atlanta '96 Italy played and lost an incredible Olympic final against Holland: Italy had 3 matchballs to close the game but Holland won in a terrific tiebreak to get the throphy. Now players changed. Velasco even changed sport (signed for soccer team Lazio as general manager, then Inter), came back to volley to bring the women national team at the top of the World (World Ch. in 2002) and now back to his first love, the volleyball club Modena. Italy is not the favourite for this Olympics! Brazil is much better in both men and women and likely will get both gold. But the young italian team is there ready to fight and hopefully to be in final against brazil. That just happened in the men recent World League and women Grand Prix. Maybe a surpise will bring Italy to the always so dreamed title!

Michael Owen is the newest "galactico"
I have the feeling Inter doesn't need Cannavaro anymore. Fabio is still great but Moratti made the big mistake to buy him instead of Nesta a couple of years ago. Inter has Cordoba who is similar to Cannavaro while Materazzi should have replaced. Cannavaro did well but last year had a couple of injuries that stopped him for a while. For the defence this summer Inter got Burdisso (the argentinan from Boca Junior) and the veteran Mihajlovic from Lazio, then sold Adani, left Gamarra (paraguay now at the olympics) and still to decide what to do with Fabio. Fabio is a great man and still the captain of the italian national team! He said he wants to stay but i doubt. I don't think Inter will leave him to go to Juventus (still to fresh the 2 bad trade with Milan!!) and so Real could be the only top chance. There are a lot of rumors about a trade C.Zanetti (inter) and Camoranesi (juventus) but I hope that not will happen. I don't like Camoranesi and when helthy Cristiano is one of the top CM of the italian league.
