Not sure how you think my math is wrong. I was taught in the 3rd grade that when a number was 5.5 or higher you rounded it up. Add to that, baseball is done in 3rd's not 10ths and you have to round up. In 2008 he pitched 5.272727272.. IPG. Technically that would be rounded up to 5.3 which anyone who knows anything about baseball would know that means 6 IP. In 2007 it was 6.238 which again in baseball would be seen as 6.2 IPG. In 2006 5.768 which again would round up to 6IP. In 2005, it is 6IP on the nose. So yes I think I am right in this. Also go to my previous post and then go to the league stats from the years he pitched in those leagues. In every one of them there are current Major Leaguers who were behind him in IP. In regards to this, you have to remember that there's 5 1/3rd inning, 5 2/3rd innigns. So in 2008 where he had 5.3 innings, that'd be an average of 5 1/3rd IP pitched. In 2007, it'd be 6 1/3rd. 2006 would be 5 2/3rd. Ok now I see what he was saying and I agree. So he has averaged between 5.2/3 and 6.

You started a thread called "Trahern is not immune", which implies that Trahern has been good as a Marlins farm hand, and that a bad game is an aberration, which isnt the case...he has been beyond awful since he came over and games like he had are pretty run of the mill. As for the New Orleans pitching staff, its pretty bad. Tucker is the only one there that really has a legitimate shot to do anything at the MLB level(and Sinkbeil to a lesser extent), and it will most likely be as relievers. lol, I had done a game recap for every game thus year. Tucker had two bad starts, Sinkbiels first start was bad, Badenhop's 2nd start was bad, and Barone's first start was bad. That is what I meant by the title. I have always been under the impression that Trahern's repertoire is average at best across the board. The impression. So what you are saying is you have never seen him pitch and you trust bloggers to form your opinion. Dallas was a USAtoday High school all American. He was a 5 tool player at shortstop coming out of high school. Had it not been for a college coach filling a Scouts ear with a bunch of lies about signability Dallas would have been drafted in the supplemental first round by another team. THE SCOUT HIMSELF TOLD ME THIS right after Dallas signed with the Tigers. He was hacked off because the College coach had told him Dallas was going to OU no matter when he was drafted. He has six pitches that he can throw and at least three if not four are seen as plus pitches by Scouts I know in the game. You also like to bring up him playing in Albuquerque as a reason his stuff wouldnt work...if his stuff was what you say it was it should of negated that thin air since he is a groundball pitcher. No a sinker doesnt sink in high altitude according to the people I have talked to. Either way, he is off to another crappy start this year, putting a ton of runners on base and letting them score, and I hate to tell you there isnt much elevation in Nashville and especially not in New Orleans. Off to a crappy start? He's tied for 13th in the league in Innings pitched. He has the best ERA of the Z's starters (including Tucker and Badenhop who pitched for the Marlins last year) He's got the best WHIP of the Z's starters. I will send you a private message regarding another tidbit you should be aware of but I dont feel comfortable posting on the internet. Either way, your boy isnt as good as you desperately want to think he is. He is an average/mediocre prospect, and way down the list in the Marlins system as far arms go. His upside is limited, experience is about the only thing he has on the other pitchers. You are entitled to your opinion I just happen to know that you are dead wrong on what the Marlins, and other teams for that matter, think of Dallas and his upside. Quit trying to force feed a pitcher who has had no success whatsoever as a Marlin farm hand(and despite what you say was pretty meh in Detroit as well) down our throats and quit getting so damn hot and bothered when anyone dares talk objectively about Trahern. Fact of the matter is, if he does get called up to the show and pitches like he has so far this year so far and how he did last year, his stay would be extremely short and painful to watch. Msytickol, I'd be glad to! That is a great idea. Werent really any batting stars last night. Tough night at the plate. Jai Miller had a double but it was his only hit. Spike, I understand Dallas had a bad year last year. But I do like to point out two facts about last year. First he was in Albuquerque and second, he pitched the entire year with an open cut on his pitching thumb. He worked with Team USA manager/ORU head coach Rob Walton in the off season and changed his grip so this would no longer be a problem. He was the #1 starter every year in the Tigers organization in front of Jair Jurggens who is the Braves #2 starter. If he was still with the Tigers he would be in the bigs right now. Last year really set him back. But I know that not only the Marlins are high on him (which is why they protected him on the 40 man roster) but other teams like him as well. Even last year there were two teams who inquired about trading for him during the season last year. He lead the Eastern League in Complete games (3), Innings Pitched (162.2). He was top 10 in ERA among Starters Tied for 3rd in wins Just curious are you forming your opinion based on last year only or have to followed his career

Yeah, I talked to his dad who was at the game. Said they just hit him tonight. Tough facing the same team in back to back starts. Also gave up three doubles tonight.

14. Jake Smolinksi < - Big omission. He'd be in most organizations top 10. Even higher if he transitions to 2B smoothly I respectfully say, I think you have a lot of work to do to familiarize yourself with the system. Jake Smolinski Scouting Report (On a scale of 100) Power: 52 Speed: 64 Contact: 50 Patience: 55 Smolinski played in single A. He has a career .280 average, with 5 HR, and 49 RBI in 400 ABs. His SLG % is .399. At least his scouting report is good according to Baseball America! :confused Yes he was a 2nd round pick. No he hasn't proven anything. Most organizations would have him as Top 10? Well not this one. He's not Top 25 in the Marlins organization right now. At least he's young enough to be considered a prospect. A good portion of the guys you mentioned...not even prospects. Carlos Martinez???? Seriously? Burke Badenhop? A good portion? Like who? Badenhop is better than Trahern. The defination of prospect is someone in the minor leagues. I believe it'sjust as important to track someone like Carlos Martinez (who will help us this season) as it is to track Hector Correa (who throws hard but just throws the ball- doesn't understand how to pitch just yet and won't help us this season). I could be wrong. Too much emphasis is placed on upside and age. You have to balance everything. Ok I have walked away from this thread 3 times today but I just cant do it anymore. I can only assume you are basing your opinion of Dallas on last year when he a.) pitched in Albuquerque and b.) pitched with an open cut on the thumb of his pitching thumb the entire year. I dont know what Scout you have been talking to, but I know Scouts who think very highly of Trahern. Which is why the Marlins put him on their 40 man roster this season. They didnt want to lose Dallas to another team in the Rule 5 draft. I totally agree with MarlinLou's thoughts on page 2 of this thread.
