  1. Andrew reminds me of Tom Glavine. You better get to him early because if you don't you arent going to get much off him
  2. Those are very good points I hadnt considered. I think you all will love Drew. While many OSU fans didnt think Frank Anderson was Rah rah enough to be a good HC (even though he leaves 2nd winningest coach behind Gary Ward at OSU with 8 of 9 years with reduced scholarships that were due to circumstances before he even signed on as HC) he was a GREAT Pitching coach. I remember seeing Andrew throw as a Freshman and feeling he would be a special player and he was. He threw a 2 hitter in the Big 12 tourney against ou, unfortuantely the 2nd hit was a solo HR that lost the game 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th. He will battle every outing and will work hard.
  3. Hey Im back lol. I have gotten to know Andrew Heaney's dad the last three years as I am an Oklahoma State fan. Andrew is a great pitcher and an even better kid. I would have loved to have had him back at OSU next year but Im glad he got things worked out. I wish they wouldnt have done him that way though. If a player is slotted to get 2.8 they should have given it too him. I understand it's all a negotiation but next time a big time player leaves Miami for another organization as a Free Agent remember this. If you send the message they arent worth their slotted bonus and then they do well, dont expect to resign them.
  4. Mike, I bet it is 0.00! He actually got called by the Tigers but decided he was done
  5. Lol I'm so honored that you are going to do a montage for me! But I am very male lol Just for old times sake I select Dallas Trahern RHP
  6. Sorry, Dr. Bein, Frankly, that is the main reason I want Dallas to give it a shot elsewhere just so I could come back and say I told you so. But he's made his decision so I have to support it!
  7. Came back to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving saw that the thread actually had some responses. Ill respond to all in one thread instead of responding to each individually. Fanofthefish, I wish I could retire but I am a youth pastor. Ill be working until I die. Mystikol, Actually he already lined up a really good job there in Florida which is the reason he decided to go ahead and retire. It is as a sales person for the company he worked for in the off season. I guess last month he closed the largest deal in Company history which is what set the wheels in motion for him to consider retiring. Mike, Not at all am I trashing the Marlins. In my opinion, each club has a preference for a style they want to play. Some like to play small ball. Some like get a couple of guys who can get on base and then have three big bats who can all hit homeruns to bring in runs. Some organizations are built on pitching. Some organizations, like the Marlins in my opinion, prefer pitchers who can strike a lot of guys out. That isnt Dallas. Dallas is a ground ball pitcher. I just think Dallas would have been a better fit other places. Nothing against the Marlins. Schneddlers, I know many on this board wont understand, and frankly even as his youth pastor I disagree with Dallas, but for Dallas this is much more a spiritual decision that anything else. He feels now that he is getting married his job is to be the best husband he can be. That includes providing for his wife financially as well as being there for her emotionally, spiritually, etc. He doesnt feel he can do so if he is playing baseball. He feels he wouldnt be the husband he needs to be if he is traveling. I told him he should give it one more year, and see how it goes because I think he will regret this decision. It's not that he doesnt think he can still pitch. He said he feels better than ever physically. The primary reason he made this decision is he feels God wants him to be a certain kind of husband. I must respect his decision even if I dont agree with it. Hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  8. Hey All, Dallas is getting married the first weekend in January and has decided to retire. I know some on here dont think he would have ever had made the show but I think this is a mistake. I think with the right organization he would have had a shot. Dallas still speaks highly of the organization and has enjoyed his time with the Marlins. I am happy to see the Marlins going after these big name free agents. I think they are showing they want to be competitive. It's been fun discussing baseball with you all these last few years. Best of luck to the Marlins.
  9. All I know is Dallas had never been hurt until he was in the Marlins system and hes been injured most of his time in this organization. Could be a coincidence. And yes I do think the Marlins minor league coaching is not as strong as other organizations. I have several people who I know well who are in baseball both players and Scouts. Fanofthefish, I will support Dallas wherever he pitches. He had a choice this last offseason and chose to stay in the Marlins system because he felt he owed it to them. I think the Marlins prefer strikeout pitchers which Dallas will never be. I think there are better fits as far as organizations. I was actually just commenting on how many guys have left the Marlins and excelled. Commenting on the bad luck the Marlins seem to have had. My original post had nothing to do with D
  10. Interesting how all these guys start doing well when they get out of the Marlins system...
  11. Hopefully it's what he needs. Doesn't seem like his starting numbers are too good. Well stats are an interesting thing. They don't tell the whole story sometimes. For example. There isnt a stat that shows that the Suns (AA) went 7-4 in Dallas Starts. May not seem that very good until you also realize that one of those losses the game was tied when Dallas left the game. Dallas has a record of 1-3. However, the bullpen blew 3 games in which Dallas was leading so he could very well have been 4-3. Of course they also got him off the hook in two games he was behind in. Two starts ago Dallas had only thrown 47 pitches through 4 innings and was winning 2-1 in the top of 5 when a 2 hour rain delay forced him from the game. In his last start the manager decided to give the starting CF the day off...only to play a guy who has never played in the outfield in CF. I listened to this particular game and the opposing radio guy kept commenting on how the normal center fielder makes those plays. And this is the start that sent Dallas to the bullpen. In AAA the numbers are just as interesting. Yes he has a 7+ ERA. However, the Z's went 4-0 in Dallas' April starts. The Z ended up going 5-2 in Dallas' 7 starts. In one of his losses he only gave up 2 ER but 3 unearned gave him the 5-4 L. So what is my point? While stats are great they dont tell the entire story. Dallas is being typical Dallas and his goal is to go out and be the best reliever he can. I also know that the Marlins have no money invested in Dallas so he has to be perfect to get a shot. Hopefully he can be as a reliever
  12. I realize it's not a big deal to most on here but Dallas just sent me a text saying he has been moved to the pen.
  13. Player:Dallas Trahern Team: JX G: 11 IP: 59.2 W: 3 L: 3 SV: 0 K: 24 BB: 33 ERA: 6.18 Sorry is that better
  14. This guy was unhittable in AAA and only lasts 3 innings in todays start. Is there really that much difference between AAA and the bigs?
