Do our fishies have a shot in heck to pull off another miracle? The starting pitching has finally showed and the bullpen hasn't been as bad as expected. The offense however has been pretty disappointing, but if they can somehow get that going they could go on a tear I think. So what should I buy with my grand?!?!

Hopefully Fredi and the coaching staff notice. Twice on Friday night game ( 4th and 6th innings ) the Marlins had runners in first and second and nobody out with Cody at the plate. Both times he swung at the firt pitch popping up to shallow left.........Next thing you know Paulino hits a single to right field ( both times ) but we end up not scoring enough. What would've happened had Cody bunted advancing runners. Paulino had accounted for at least 4 rbi's and the Marlins won. This is just an example of what has been going on for the whole season now. This team doesn't execute situational hitting, players are not patient at the plate, our leadoff hitter leads the team in strikeouts and has the worst obp in the lineup, not many bunt attempts. Oh, something's wrong! Our pitching is doing very good, our defense is a little bit better lately, we should be better in the standings. To get started, dfa Boni and have a steady lineup: De Aza/Coughlan, Herm, HanRam, Cantu, Uggla, Helms, Baker, Cody. Fredi and Presley need to feel they can be fired any time agreed, maybe start bunting a little more? Yes, brilliant! We should flat out give up outs, that would improve our offense so much! considering we've lost 4 out of our last 5 by 1 run, it doesn't sound so silly to play fundamental baseball.

Yes it was an improvement for Ricky but he certainly got lucky and on another night would of easily gave up 5 or 6 runs. I mean 10 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings, with 6/10 hits being double is just not good enough. Got extremely lucky from the mistakes of Molina and Kung Fu Panda when they were out at the plate. I am actually embarassed that Fredi plays Bonifacio 2nd and Baker 8th, when every fan and every sports website in the country can see that Bonifacio is only worthy of a spot on the bench, never mind in the spot where a patient hitter like Baker excelled last year. Agreed about Ricky. However, he did look pretty good (like ricky last year I would say) his first 3 innings ever as he was locating his fastball well, throwing first pitch strikes, and the curve ball looked nice. You're right, it is embarassing that bonifacio is still has a starting spot (and batting #2!!!) on this team. His error was the difference last night and that's not the first time that has happened. It's time for Fredi and the FO to swallow their pride and bench the guy or send him down.

ricky's whip was still around 2.00...bonifacio's error was the difference again (this'll be twice his errors have cost us a loss)...we were 0-4 with RISP and there were many times when our leadoff guy got on board to no avail...we also just lost 2 of 3 to the giants at home...yeah not so good.

Nice job hitting with RISP tonight. And, as usual, Volstad gets no run support. Another quality start and another loss about the most tough luck pitcher around actually zito has more "tough luck" than volstad....

When you are giving Bonifacio the most at bats on the team, and the fact that Jacobs was a big home run guy with a better OBP than our current leadoff/#2 hitter, yet Jacobs will have around 80 more RBI's and 30+ more home runs than somebody, you should've known we were going to miss his limited, but still somewhat good production. Plain and simple, Uggla isn't the Uggla we saw 1st half last year, Cantu is getting better, but not on the hot streak we saw last season, Cody is streaky as he always is, Baker isn't getting enough starts or being utilized in the best way possible, Maybin, the guy who was supposed to boost this team, is in AAA, and Coghlan hasn't exactly lit things up either, with Hermida being a good OBP guy but overall average with the bat. So yeah, its reasonable to think we aren't doing as good as last year. Bingo.
