It doesn't matter if it cost them the game, it was still absolutely stupid. The manager doesn't have to do much, except NOT utterly screw up in situations such as these. I accept that our roster is not playoff calibur...but that doesn't give Fredi free reign to act like a retard. What's going to happen years from now when we bring up guys like Stanton, Morrison, etc, and this guy is still being a moron? Then you get rid of him. That is, if Stanton, Morrison, etc. are ripping the ball and Fredi is obviously the one holding back the team. Or, if Stanton, Morrison, etc. are failing, but we can't get rid of them all at once, and Fredi has to fall on the sword. But if Fredi is such a moron, how are we at .500, we were (and still are) in the playoff hunt. With all the aspects of the team that are underperforming, the offense and pitching inconsistencies, firing Fredi and replacing him is not suddenly going to make the team that much better. Maybe a new manager will win us two or three games, but who he is managing and how they are playing may be the bigger problem. We're .500 because we have really good players. Don't act like we're playing to/past expectations. We're better than a .500 team, for sure. We are definitely a better than .500 team (by how much so, that is up for debate). And we do have good players. But are we at .500 because of Fredi or those good players not playing up to their potential/goodness? Is it Fredi's fault that Ricky was horrible to open up the season or that Volstad continues to give up homers? Or that Uggla is not hitting well? On paper, we should be better. But in reality, we aren't, because the individual expectations are not being lived up to. And when those individual expectations fall short, the team in general falls short. But we are not a .500 team despite Fredi. We are a .500 team despite having a horrible May, an at times spotty rotation, and an offense that is hot and cold over the span of two games. What I've been saying is there are many to blame, if we want to go down that path. It may start with Fredi, but it certainly doesn't end there, and it is much more likely if someone "following" him (a player) was living up to their potential, we wouldn't be having as severe a conversation. I don't know why you believe we are "definitely a better than .500 team (by how much so, that is up for debate)", is it just because you say we are ? What gives you that impression, because the Marlins record so far this year, and over the last 4 seasons, says otherwise. They are what they are, a mediocre team. Not bad but certainly not great and also not a playoff team. The FO has its hands tied by Loria. Its a damn shame but it looks like we will never get it done while Johnson, Uggla and Hanley are here. I suspect all 3 will be gone by 2012. Only a slight chance that Hanely is here. They will need to trade him for a bunch of players to fill out the 2012 roster. Do you guys really, truly believe the new stadium will solve some of the woes or is it we just will never have a decent payroll as long as Loria is the owner ?

.... wat? We only have a winning record this year against 2 teams with winning records, in other words, we beat up on bad teams, and struggle against teams with winning records. That is not usually a stat that lies.....it shows a team that ultimately will break your heart even if they make the playoffs, because they struggle to win against better teams. As for the Nationals, what I am saying is if you take the wins against the Nats off our record its 37-47 our winning % is only 44%. Its very disappointing, but if they don't win 4 out of 6 on the west coast, I expect we are sellers. We'll have dug a hole way too deep to get out of.

I don't think Miller will see an extended time in the minors this season or next. In part because the FO doesn't want to lose face and send him down and give off the appearance that the Cabrera/Willis trade didn't pan out yet. But I believe he needs steady work where he can accumulate more wins than loses. I still think Miller was not the centerpiece of that trade, but Maybin was. You can't judge that trade until we see what Maybin can really do.

Can we please fire someone? I just think it will ever happen. The FO seems to think its okay as long as we win 75+ games a season.

In looking at the records the Marlins only have a winning record so far against 2 teams with a winning record, but a losing record against 9 teams with winning records. If you take the Nationals out of the equation, we are close to a .400 team. This team needs to sell, and start over again. The team they have now, is not even close to a team that should go very far into the playoffs. Time is ripe now, to tade Uggla, Hermida and Cantu, but I like Ross, and wish they keep him.

There's no doubt that there will be another major purge of players at the end of the season. Herm, Uggla are all gone. Too expensive. Cantu and Ross maybe gone also. Too inconsistent play. I agree, but if you do that you either will have the inexperience of 2006 all over again, or you will have to go out and buy some players. The latter is never going to happen, so I guess its back to 2006-type of team. I sure hope this mediocrity goes away when the new stadium opens, but I am not sure Loria will ever be one to spend any money.

I agree with Cajackistan about Hermida, play him everyday and get something for him this winter. Put a period on the mistake pick that was Hermida. It has to be obvious to even his most ardent of supporters, that he is not 1st round material, and the scout that pushed for him hopefully is no longer with the organization.

I am hoping for an answer to this too. Anyone know ? Why is it so hard to get an anawer to this ? I loked at the Marlins official website and they have nothing listed.

You're kidding right? I was thinking along the same lines. The guy basically saved the stadium and people want more. NOW. Kinda like when it was disclosed he gave $$ to his alma mater. "He coulda spent that on us!!" Higher payroll makes for better TV. No he didn't say he wanted more or anything like that. He asked a legit question. That 6 million has to come from somewhere. He asked where it was coming from. It's coming from Loria. And this person is worried that it means a lower payroll. So yea, I would say my analysis was right on. No I wasn't worried about lower payroll, I am still worried about the $ 6 million being spent on the stadium instead of the team when we could use more players for the playoff run. I am worried that it means we wouldn't make a deal, or deal Uggla solely for not much in return because his pay is close to $ 6 million, and that way it wouldn't wreck the budget for this year.

Loria from what I understand does not have the money that Steinbrenner has so that is a lot of money for him to put out of his pocket. They keep on saying that they need to keep the payroll low to build the stadium and I was asking because this was $ 6 million that he wasn't expecting to pay. Why were the bonds tough to sell and why was the interest rate so high ? Was this done in NY ? Maybe it was Mets or Yankee fans not buying them ?

6 Saturday home games are still on the schedule. 3 to start at 7:05(7/18,8/01,9/26) 3 to start at 6:05(8/15,8/29,9/12)....all are scheduled to have post-game concerts..... So that means at least 3 more "no TV" games. Sounds to me those times are a good time to take a trip to the ballpark !

You're kidding right? No, not kidding. I know that the owner is not capable of spending a lot of money, and I wasn't sure if that extra 6 million would take away their ability to improve the team. Does it alter the plans at all ?
