Gaudin and Murphy win final spots
Of course Kearns had had success, hes not even in my discussion. But in Murphys past 3 years of significant minor league playing time, he is batting .211 with with a putrid OBP, striking out almost every 4 at-bats. In the majors, Murphy is a .202 hitter, has a horrible K %, and plays average defense at best. Solano not only outperformed him in ST in every offensive category, but in his past 3 years he is a .280 hitter at AAA ball with a .330 OBP. Not even trying to spark a debate, but what do you see in Donnie Murphy that convinces you he can be an asset to this team?

Agreed, Id rather have Solano as well. Murphy hasnt shown he can hit on any level. If Kearns made it due to his hot ST, Solano should too.

Marlins have inquired on OF Nolan Reimold
I guess the thought of having Austin Kearns on the bench scares the front office? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/03/marlins-inquired-on-nolan-reimold.html#disqus_thread

Pudge or CJ?
Ok Guys, I posted Earlier about my project and the "All Time" Marlin team. The professor Im doing this for is grading strict, and Im down to one postion. Catcher. Pudge and CJ are neck in neck but I cant really decide. Being a fan since 96, I know CJ won some awards along with a WS. But Pudge will go down as one of the best catchers to play, and he also has a WS. Some other mentioned Piazza and Benito. Imput would help!

Little Help Here Guys
What happened to Mike Piazza for catcher? Piazza did nothing for this team in the week or so he was here. Personally I would go with CJ over Pudge. CJ won 3 GGs here (I believe the first to do so as a Marlin),was an AS, helped us win the Series in '97 by setting MLB records for consecutive games without an error or passed ball, and was a local boy (Ft Pierce) that was the team's first ever draft pick (out of The U). Pretty impressive Marlins bio. Although he helped us win a WS in '03, Pudge signed a 1 year contract with us and made it known it was because he wanted to show he could stay healthy for an entire season (he hadn't been able to do that in previous recent years) and that he could contribute to a team. It was well known if the opportunity presented itself he would go for the $$$ after that season. It did, and he did. And I would question whether Cabrera should being included in the OF. I know he was a fav of most, but... However, seeing 3B should go to Lowell, I guess Miggy should be included someplace. I'm going to argue that aquireing Piazza was more important then any other Trade we did in that firesale. CJ, Sheff, Bonilla were all making massive amounts of money at the time, and we got their medicore declining talent at the plate off the books to start. (Sheff found the clear, but CJ and Bonilla never had a good year at the plate after 97) Then we got a HOF Caliber Catcher, who we traded for one of the most dominant pitchers in the league for 5 years and a CF who netted us in another trade the catalyst for the 2003 World Series. Look at all the facts. Piazza wiped salary AND helped build for the future in 2003. Not bad for a guy who played 5 games, and got his only triple of the season with the Marlins. The guy hated being traded by the dodgers, but he was upset to be traded from the Marlins too. He's a self professed Miami Native, and wanted to play for us last year (Rabelo/Treanor). Thank God Baker proved to be a valuable asset. Basically- Cj, Bo, Sheff for Piazza, Zeile Piazza for AJ and Preston Wilson Preston Wilson for Juan Pierre. Zeile Netted us 2 Minor League Prospects also I understand your arguement, but do you think Mike made a bigger impact to the fish then CJ or Pudge

my list has the perfect 25 man roster for you. I forgot about Edgar and Im torn between him and HanRam. Without question, Hanley is the better overall player. But the goals Renteria acclomplished here are unmatchable. They are if Hanley gets us a world series and an MVP award but I agree with you that Edgar's accomplishments as a Marlin are great. Maybe you write about both? I Wish I could. The group Im in got assigned a team, and luckily I got to pick my Marlins. We have to decide on 1 player for each position, 5SP and 5RP then briefly give a summary after each player.

Connine in LF, D Lee at 1st, Lowell at 3rd, You can say Pudge at Cather, Hanley hasn't really won anything with the fish but he is a great player you can also go with Renteria with what he did in 1997 season and playoffs and the world series heroics of Alex Gonzalez. Here's what I'd go with. C- Pudge/C.J. 1B- Lee 2B- Castillo 3B- Lowell SS- Hanley/Renteria/Gonzalez RF- Sheffield CF- Carr/White/Pierre LF- Conine Pitchers- Kevin Brown, Josh Beckett, Livan Hernandez, Brian Harvery, Jay Powell Rob Nenn, and Ugeth Urbina(Theres so many more that others will name but these are players of the top of my head. What do you think about the D-Train?

That looks about right. What do you think abotu Moises Alou. He was one of our key hitters in the postseason of 97. Hard to take out Sheffield though

Second base could probably be Castillo. Dans close though. Yeah with Dan being a 2-time Allstar its tough...but Castilla was huge in clutch situations.
