  1. I disagree with your assertion that our current lineup is not terrible. Having Nolasco and Volstad at #4 and #5 is pretty terrible.
  2. Our offense is not as good as any offense in the division if you actually go by statistics. Which one is better? And please, use statistics. Do your own homework. MLB.com
  3. Our offense is not as good as any offense in the division if you actually go by statistics. By statistics, you mean in an injury-riddled, completely down year for half the offense? This offense now can stack up against any other team in this division. That's some nice speculation there.
  4. Everything I have read suggests it will take at least 30 million to win the bid. Then lets make it happen. . . Loria what are you waiting for, bid 31 Mil to be safe. He'd probably bid $60M just to be safe.
  5. Our offense is not as good as any offense in the division if you actually go by statistics. Also, Beurhle is just replacing Vazquez, so we are basically back to square one.
  6. why does everyone think we cant get fielder? Are you guys listening to the supposed offers we sent to Pujols and CJ? 275 and 100.. thats insane It appears that fielders body is a turnoff to the marlins, and he cant be marketed in south florida like Pujols, but that a bit of b.s. The d-train and J.P are loved down here, and so are the heat. Miami loves stars regardless of color, but yea if they speak spanish a huge bonus. Yeah, there are reports saying the Marlins don't want Fielder because he doesn't appeal to the latin market. That is such BS. Winning appeals to any market. I don't want Fielder for his body, however. He could break down within a few years if he doesn't get into shape. That man needs to be a DH later in his career.
  7. Wow. @dSoldevila reports #Marlins pitcher Juan Carlos Oviedo (Leo Nunez) arrested for using false identity liten.be//9J1pI -Jorge Arangure, ESPN Magazine Looks like he could use a save himself.
  8. His price will come down, then we take him, no MLB team is going to pay him 60 mil, what is he going to do sit out a year? When the price gets reasonable we jump in. Considering this team (supposedly) offered Pujols $275M and Wilson $100M, anything is possible for the Marlins.
  9. Really people. If yesterday, after Buerhle, we pulled out of Wilson and Pujols, with Wilson signing wherever today and Pujols staying in St. Louis... would anyone be disappointed with Bell, Reyes, and Buerhle? I think it's just coming from seeming so close and then losing out to the same team on both guys. I would, because that's still not enough to win now. I agree. If we are going to spend.. Might as well spend big and spend to win now. Not later.. If later even becomes an option. The team is capable of winning now. They're relying on just about what every other team relies on - health. If we're healthy, this team can win. Now. May I ask what the glaring weakness is right now that we just absolutely cannot win now? Holes in the rotation and inconsistent offensive production.
  10. We'll add another rotation arm, I'm sure. Well, something like this is the key to everything. All these signing are awesome to show that the Marlins are trying to become a real team and not the joke of the league, but as "win now" signings, I don't think it's enough to go from last place to a playoff team, even with a healthy JJ.
  11. I don't want Prince, with his build he is going to start a decline pretty soon. As it is, Gabby Sanchez already represents one first baseman too many on this team. We should acquire an outfielder and trade Gabby at max trade value. Who would you put at first base?

  13. We're not overrated. We're not as powerful as we think we are, however.. All of these signings indicate a definite "Win now" attitude, and this current team, even with Bell, Beurhle and Reyes, can't win now without more additions.
  14. There is absolutely no chance I would've given Pujols A-Rod money. If 10 years, $275 million would've been the offer Pujols accepted to us, I would've been absolutely furious. Also, Loria has gone crazy. I hope he goes crazy on Prince now.. If we sign Fielder to 8 or 9 years, then Loria is officially crazy.
  15. I think it's embarrassing, if true. You offer two guys larger contracts than the team that signed them, including a contract that will make a player the richest player in MLB history, and they still turn it down and don't want to play for your organization.
