Heckeroo
this is a no brainer for me, ACC has best teams, and the most electric atmosphere when voting, keep in mind the wuestion isn't who has the better teams, but what is the better conference (atmosphere, brand of basketball, etc.)
Das Texan
the bigger question is what is the #2 overall confernce. both for this year. and historically.
Guest Juanky
IMO, the ACC (with the addition now of UM and VT) is the best conference in Basketball, Football, and Baseball.
AniR300
I put Big East, I meant to put SEC though. SEC just cause it has my col. basketball team, UF.

Ramp
IMO, the ACC (with the addition now of UM and VT) is the best conference in Basketball ACC but VT and UM may actually hurt the ACC

If Miami gets a better head coach I can't see why they won't be able to attract blue chip recruits.
Ramp
and Das I dont know about historically, but I would think the Big 10 has been good for the most part
Das Texan
VT and Miami both are pretty much horrible in basketball. I dont see how this makes hte ACC better in basketball. And I have no clue what VT has in terms of baseball....but is the ACC even that good in baseball anyway? I dont know...honest question on that front. Rebirth
ACC. They have 5 teams in the Top 25 pools Right behind the ACC is the Big East.
g8trz2003
ACC in basketball....and basketball only #2 is clearly the SEC as it is consistently the 1 or 2 best conference RPI wise, and has some of the best fans (outside of the ACC) in the country. Such coaches as Billy D, Pitino, Nolan Richardson, etc. have or do coach there.
TarHeel324
it is definitely the ACC if you dont agree with me, talk to michael jordan, phil ford, vince carter, christian laetner, shane battier, grant hill, steve francis, juan dixon, stephon marbury...... while your talking to them talk to some great coaches like dean smith, coach k, roy williams..... i could go on and on all night simply put, the best basketball is in the ACC also miami and VT will be terrible for ACC bball one of the great things about it now is that each team plays the other 8 twice thatll be gone now... Guest Juanky
My post was not originally written to say that because of the addition of Miami and VaTech that the ACC would be the best in basketball. It was misquoted, and changed otherwise. I said that it is the best in basketball, and with the addition of Miami and VaTech it becomes the best in football and baseball. Ramp
again, i dont see how VT and UM going to the ACC helps them at all

Guest Juanky
I don't think it makes the conference better in basketball either. But I do believe it doesn't hurt it enough to drop it to number two, and they help it enough to move it to number one in both baseball and football. In football you get a legit top 5 school and a more often then not top 10 school in the mix. In baseball you get a solid team in VaTech and a top 5 school in Miami. Add that in with FSU already being dominant in baseball, and you have two disgusting universities in the same conference, with some schools that are solid and will be powerhouses in years to come. g8trz2003
naw. Talent-wise? Maybe. But Miami has terrible fans. ACC stadiums and atmosphere dont even compare to SEC aura. I can think of 10 stadiums off the bat that are louder than every ACC stadium (including Clemson's Death Valley, which is very weak...I've been there). jonnylons
Being a Florida State fan and student, I have seen ACC up close for the past 5 years (that includes M.A. years too, so hold your negative comments!!). By far, this is the toughest conference in the nation. It is unfortunate that we didnt get a berth because in ANY other division, FSU would have 20+ wins fairly easy. The reason why it is so hard is because the ACC has the best systems and coaching in the country. They also get the best-suited players for those systems and they execute. The athletes themselves, in general, are a smarter bunch too because the academics in ACC are more stringent at schools like UNC, Duke. This is the best-played, best coached, most fun to watch of all the conferences. In my opinion, of course.

You cannot argue against Cameron (Duke) or Chapel Hill (UNC). There is NO SEC team that has the 'aura' of either of those two places OR programs. Sorry. Kentucky? Close, but not quite. UF? Please, that is probably one of the most overrated programs in the country. Then you can throw in Clemson (which is very loud but without a strong program - by ACC standards anyway) and Maryland. FSU games get pretty loud when Duke or other powerhouses come to town. We have a pretty good fan base there though - at least now. UM has their arena on campus, which is a must for college basketball.
Das Texan
um... i think furman and a number of others were tyring to extend the debate to all sports. furman i know was talking about football. some others tried to include baseball. but this is about basketball. ACC is far and away better than any other conference.
g8trz2003
yes, das. I was responding to whoever started talking football. Sorry to get this thread going towards football. Yes, ACC is better in bball in talent (usually) and in atmosphere. I was saying that with the additions of Miami and VT, the SEC will still reign supreme in FOOTBALL...the atmosphere is amazing in the SEC (FOOTBALL).
