RossInfoMan
03/19/04 17:35 EST JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Marlins may have to wait until June for pitcher A.J. Burnett's return. Burnett underwent Tommy John surgery early last season, and had hoped to come back by May 1. Now, he's thinking his first game might take a little longer. ``I'm not going to worry about when I come back,'' Burnett said Friday. ``I know I'll be back this year. I know I'll be back before the All-Star break and if I come back at the All-Star break then you've got a healthy horse coming back to help you in the stretch. I'm not trying to break any records.'' Burnett's comeback was set back two weeks ago when he felt pain in his right elbow after finishing his third bullpen session. He threw on flat ground Friday and felt no discomfort. He may throw a bullpen session next weekend, but the Marlins are not rushing him.

AJBurnett34
Great news to hear about AJ We should not rush him back, we got an awesome pitcher replacing him (Oliver) who is having a great Spring. I want to see AJ pitch in a Spring traning game, maybe March 27th....let me keep my hopes high.
QuickGold
A June return is a pretty good return date.
CapeFish
There is no rush. Imagine, if AJ comes back effective in June it's like making a trade for an ace midseason.
bman8316
June will be perfectly fine as I think that Oliver will be able to keep things under control until then.
AJB34
itll be interesting, what if oliver is doing superb like redman last year and its time for AJ to come back. and the other 4 starters are doing good also. do you go with a 6 man rotation?!?! He is a decent number 5 pitcher I will say that because he won 13 games last year. He should be fine for the first few months, then AJ will be back.
