May 5, 200422 yr Jack has to stop subbing Mordecai for Lowell. Sure it worked last year but last year Lowell's hip was really bothering him. The way this team lacks clutch hitting no longer can Jack pull Lowell for a pinch runner and then bank on Morde. Morde couldn't drop a bunt and then he makes the error that costs the game. It's time to keep playing Lowell in the later innings. Let's take our chances that Lowell can score from second on a single. Until Lowell's lack of speed really is a factor I can't justify Jack pulling the best player in the lineup.
May 5, 200422 yr Mordy was only one of the low-lights from last night's game. I was also surprised when Lowell was replaced. Hopefully Jack is just experimenting since it is still early in the season.

Subbing Morde for Lowell is simply the wrong move, even if the Marlins had somehow won, it isn't the right move. To magnify how silly the move was is the fact the game was tied. Maybe if the Marlins are down a run and need speed to get to second, then you pinch run and take your chances if you tie. Obviously Jack was trying to win the game then. It didn't work. The point being, it never should have been done. All moves are in attempts to win the game. I will repeat for you. Last year going with Morde made more sense because Lowell had that hip/thigh problem. He needed to take a breather and he barely could walk. There is no excuse this year. Point out something with a bit more intelligence before you make your cliche comments, "Jack was going for the win...it didn't work."
May 5, 200422 yr and sub Lowell if he is on 3rd with less than 2 outs..... not if he is on 1st Lowell is a pretty good baserunner too, he may not be the quickest but he cuts the bag at the right point most of the time to make use of his speed(or lackthereof)
May 5, 200422 yr Morde had some big hits last year but I think that Lowell shouldnt be taken out, I think Jack should have the confidence in Conine and Choi to hit it deep enough that Lowell will have no trouble scoring and if the game goes to extra innings like last night I would much rather have Lowell's bat than Mordies. But Mighty Mordici(sp) has come through for us before and still want to see him out there.
