The San Diego Padres look to keep up their strong play as they conclude their series with the Florida Marlins at Pro Player Stadium.

San Diego has won nine of its last 12 games, and has a chance to become one of the first teams in the National League to get 20 wins this season. The Padres didn't reach 20 wins until June 12 last year.

They're coming off a 6-3 win in 10 innings on Saturday, as Sean Burroughs hit a go-ahead single in the 10th and Mark Loretta added a two-run single for the Padres, who won despite stranding 14 runners.

``It seems like lately, at home and in Atlanta, we've been executing,'' said Burroughs, who returned to the lineup after missing two games because of a sore hand. ``This was really the first big game we really didn't come through. But that's going to happen. It runs in cycles.''

Florida, which has lost six of eight, went 0-for-8 with four strikeouts with runners in scoring position. They failed to score in the sixth despite loading the bases with no outs.

``It's what we talk about -- missed opportunity,'' Marlins manager Jack McKeon said. ``Just hit a ground ball. We hit a ground ball, we win the game in nine. You've got to score. You've got to have a little pride.''

Florida shortstop Alex Gonzalez went 0-for-4 and is 8-for-91 (.088) in his last 24 games against San Diego.

people do make errors you know yes, but that wasnt a long time ago...and you cant make so many errors during games...they can hurt you...Mordy can play a lot of other positions...and he just ruined a game for us by him messing up...were going to let him do that to us again?

Mordy dosent play there a lot...and he messed up before...

There is a difference when you mess up and you play a lot than when you dont play a lot and when you finally get into the game you mess up.
