May 9, 200422 yr For once, my optimistic view has proven me wrong. Ramon Castro is not the player I thought he would be. Although we are almost just 1 1/2 months into the baseball season, he has done absolutely nothing to warrant any playing time what so ever. And while Redmond has done very well at the plate, his struggles with endurance are well documented. We definately need someone else behind the plate with him if El Dictator keeps this up, and I like Edcanes idea of Ben Davis. I do and don't like the idea of Kendall. He'd fit well hitting 7th in our lineup; hitting that low in the order could get him a lot of good pitches to hit, and adding the fact that PPS could help him as well, and I believe he could hit .330-.350. Not to mention we could occasionally fiddle around and put him in left field. All I hate about Kendall is obviously the contract. Beinfest is amazing, so I'm sure he could resolve that situation to better our franchise. Now at shortstop, I want Gonzo there. No ifs ands or buts abouts it. The guy is 26-years-old, on the verge of winning his first gold glove, and he can hit a little. Not to mention he comes at a bargain price. Just say no to trading for a shortstop. In the bullpen, I don't know what to think. I believe Gracey and Perishio can get get those tough lefties out. What I don't see is where Phelps fits in. Sure, he's a stand-up guy. But what is he contributing? He isn't, and there is no need for the third lefty in the pen. I think Howard or Borland should be in the majors. Guys that can actually contribute to more success. Admin and Jeffrey's boy J-Wayne has been amazing all season so far, and hopefully he can continue to be that go-to guy in the pen for us, obviously as well as Mando. And outside of Oliver, the rotation has remained stellar. That is the backbone of this team, and they need to keep it up. Hopefully they will. And that's my two cents.
May 9, 200422 yr Our defense, pitching and inability to clutch hit have caused us to lose 6 out of the last 8 games. Things do change and it is better to lost these games now than in September and October.
May 9, 200422 yr Author if we got Kendall, I would think he would hit 3rd He might, but If we got him I'd personally be against it. Cabrera, Lowell, and Choi (in no particular order) are a tremendous 3-4-5 tandem. Kendall and his powerless bat can find somewhere else in the order to hit.

May 9, 200422 yr I'm hoping Kendall bats 2nd and we drop Luis to 6th. Why would you break up the best 1-2 punch in baseball? Kendall who is a contact hitter would be best suited for the 7th hole where he could bring in Choi and Conine in.

May 9, 200422 yr I'm hoping Kendall bats 2nd and we drop Luis to 6th. But JP and Luis are the best 1-2 punch in baseball...Luis is perfect in the #2 spot...I am so glad that we kept Luis because of our 1-2 punch....why would we break it up if we still have both players-JP and Luis?

May 9, 200422 yr I think we waited too long to play Castro Day-To-Day. In his last year at AAA, he hit over .300 with 20 something homeruns. We should look at the minors system and trade for a young catcher much the same way we traded for Lowell when the need presented itself.
May 9, 200422 yr Castro has worked out exactly the way I thought he would. Way back in 2000 he was all but given the staring job going into spring training and ended up in AAA for almost the whole year. The old management of the Marlins was so unsure of him for 2001 they went out and spent big to bring CJ back. He like Nunez have reached their expiration date as far as being prospects and can now be officially labeled suspects. I don't like the thought of trading for either Kendall, getting too old or Ben Davis who couldn't hit his way out of a wet paper sack. I mean Davis just got sent down in favor of a 40 yr old man for crissakes.
