MarlinsFans46
For all you Triple Play users out there... MVP Baseball 2003 Interview This is a link to an interview about EA Sports' new baseball game "MVP Baseball 2003", which (finally) lays to rest the Triple Play series. There seems to be a lot of pretty good features in there.
Maxx
Triple Play has been really disappointing lately so hopefully this will turn the series around. I was looking forward to All Star Baseball 2004 because it was supposed to have online play but they canceled that feature. So now I don't know if I'll even pick up a baseball game. MarlinsFans46
I've only played the demos for High Heat, and I didn't particularly find it very appealing. Even though HH had things like wild pitches and passed balls, they occurred too frequently. I think that is probably one of the hardest things to create in sports games- those "random" (but not really) events. That is why injuries were taken out starting with TP 2000- they happened too much. I am sort of worried with the franchise mode- apparently there are "career-ending" injuries- and I hope they don't occur often. It certainly seems though that EA is trying to put their best effort possible. I did like the extensiveness of HH's stats though, you could sort them, print them in box score-style. Hopefully something similar will exist with MVPB.
Rune
MVP baseball does sound good, I will have to rent it before I buy HH, but HH will still probally be my choice.

AJBurnett34
Does anyone have TP 2002...that game sucks i hope MVP baseball 2003 is way better!
Ramp
High Heat baseball is the best"] i hate agreeing with Rune but High Heat is the best Kevin Millar as Al Gill is classic
AJBurnett34
Millar doesn't come out any games i have played of baseball and i have high heat but i dont like it maybe 2003 is better but i have 2002!
DurableTear
I like HH... it is a very good baseball game... But what I love from ASB is their Franchise Mode.. create any team in any city and run your team with a pretty small budget. ASB > HH By a little.. MarlinsFans46
Forgive my ignorance, but is Al Gill a real person? If not, does he have the same stats as Kevin did? That is how the APBA baseball game (stat-based) did it. I believe his name there was "Mike Butcher..."
Ramp
Al Gill isnt a real person but he is the same weight and height of Millar with his power, fielding, etc almost identical..... a good batting average with medium power and meium rbi... and has the goatee

He is a replacement player from the strike year.

1truefan
It's been a known issue for a while now...hence why you don't see the Millar shirts like the CJ, Preston, Floyd, Dempster ones with the number on the back...
Mephisto
I think the best baseball game is World Series Baseball from Sega. This has awsome graphics to go along with a Franchise mode where you are like the GM and could hire and fire managers. The manager affects how good your team is too.. I could not get it last year but will this year. I hope is only for xbox againg just so the ps owners envy the xbox.

That's I like ASB better than HH, you can build your team and try out your GM skill at hand.. I mean I'm not doing to bad... after 42 games my team has a record of 23-19.. tied in 2nd with the Phillies and Marlins in the NL East
Mephisto
DT i know Franchise mode is just about every baseball game now , but I'm saying World Series franchise mode is better you could hire the WHOLE coaching staff and hire cordinators for the minor league team.
