June 19, 200422 yr 1. Is anything over the 15 GB model really neccessary? No, because you are never going to use it all anyways unless you use it as a portable hard drive for your computer also 2. How is the software? I have not had any problems 3. Is the USB transfer as slow as it is made out to be/and is it essential to get the firewire? I'm actually using the slower USB and it works fine, it's no big deal. But if you are talking about USB 2.0 compared to firewire there really is no difference they are both extremely quick. 4. How is the software (ease of use, convienece etc.) It's alright, but the auto update crap is sometimes a pain if you ever delete the songs off of your hard drive. 5. Is this somethign with a proper case that I could take running without worrying about it getting messed up? Yea, you should definitely have a case...these things are pretty durable though....they make all kinds of cases for them perfect for running 6. Any one have an iPod mini...and how is it? I have the 15GB, but the mini is EXACTLY the same except for the buttons are not all "touch" and obviously the capacity is much less...all of the menus and options are the same as on the regular iPods 7. How is the backlight? Great, no problems yet. You can set it so that every time you press a button it comes on (and then goes off in a set amount of time) 8. Is the battery power/life length sufficient? Yes. The power meter thing is totally not accurate though. It can say that your battery is empty and you can still go for another hour and a half.
June 19, 200422 yr Author One question first. I thought you have an iPod. That's what is on your desk. yeah i read that ... passion you got caught ... TWICE sucka If you read above yo uwill see it was a mistake because I was reading about iPod's and I had them on the brain. :mad : BTW, if you have an iPod how do you not know by now how to use it? And if you want to sell you would have an eager buyer right here.
June 19, 200422 yr Got ya, so I wouldn't need that Dock. I wont be doing much syncing..... More questions (sorry about this) How easy is it to store non-music files and does it take most any type of file? Also, is there a voice recorder, that is one of the reasons (not the main one of course) I want one, for recording some lectures. Thanks. The dock is completely unnecessary I use regular USB, not 2.0, and it works fine Don't worry about having USB 2.0 or not I have 2 iPods, both using regular USB and they are fine Any type of file can be stored on the iPod, but only music files and document files such as .TXT can be accessed from the iPod without a computer hooked up. To use the voice recorder you have to buy an accessory that hooks up to the iPod...i believe it is made by Belkin (I'm sure others make it too)

June 19, 200422 yr Too small for me, I have pretty big hands. Plus the wheel is a click wheel not a spin which I dont care for. the wheel on the mini is touch just like the regular iPods the only difference is that along the wheel are the play/pause, skip track buttons, etc...these buttons are push instead of touch i'm not sure what you mean by click?

Of course. You'll just need the Car Cassette Adapter. stupid question, but would this only drain the player batteries or does this take juice from the car battery as well? i was running an Archos Jukebox (similar to an IPod) with a cassette adapter & my car battery died within a month or two. Might have been unrelated, but it seemed odd...
