Becoming a member of the 500 home run club is the equivelant of a pitcher getting his 300th win and joining the 300 win club. Only 20 people in the history of the game have 500 home runs, all the gold gloves and batting titles are great, but joining the 500 home run club is simply the best and from this day forward Griffey will be mentioned in the same sentences as Ted Williams, Jamie Foxx, McCovey, Killebrew, Hank Aaron, The Babe, Ernie Banks, Mel Ott, etc. etc. etc. You need to understand the difference between a record and a milestone.
