July 1, 200422 yr i dont see how you can say probably true the organization has not showed that it is unwilling to make this team better i believe the reason beinfest didnt use all of the 60 million he was supposedly given to work with was because he planned on making trades if the team was winning 433764[/snapback] the fact is that the only players for sale right now are the guys coming off of BIG contracts....no one's selling anyone they're already getting cheap. take that, and then add in the fact that in order to make any trade worth our while, that player needs to be markedly better than Jeff Conine (no slouch himself, despite what we say around here), and it makes it tough. Beltran is one thing, but some of these guys we're talking about, i don't blame the FO for not getting them. because, if you're the front office and the money's coming out of your own pocket at the end of the day, you gotta look at things and say: is Steve Finley THAT much better than Jeff Conine that he's worth $5 million bucks? is Matt Lawton? most of these guys are getting traded b/c they're overpaid in the first place. that being said, it's different when we're talking about the bullpen. i believe we would spend the money it took to get a reliever in here....if only b/c it would take a lot less money to bring in a reliever who would improve our relief a great deal.
