Jeter's catch

Featured Replies

that was one of the most unbelievable plays i've ever seen... that's just guts and an all out player, it makes you turn for a second when you watch him dive with such impact, just unbelievable

That really was one of the more unbelievable plays Ive ever seen, especially considering the time of the game

Holy s***, I just saw that on sportscenter. He should've consulted Ryan Freel on how to dive into the seats without injury.

What an incredible game the sox and yanks just played. Probably the most exciting regular season game Ive ever seen

That game was insane

One of the better catches I've ever seen.

Nobody has every questioned the man's effort or leadership, that's for sure.

i guess i'm alone on this one, but i thought it was overrated.

the catch was great, the running afterwards and dive into the stands was unanticipated...but personally i thought the guys on sportscenter were hyping his "taking one for the team" and its apparent reflection on his leadership ability way too much.

jeter didn't plan on getting face-planted into the stands... it was an accident. i'm sure he noticed he was going to fly in if he went for the catch, but the guy didnt expect to get smacked that hard.

guys get slammed into the seats while making catches all the time...but listening to the folks on sportscenter, the unanticipated, embarrassing end result of the play apparently proves that jeter's makeup is superior to anyone else's. right.

It was a very dangerous play to make and I would call that taking one for the team, Jeter knew where he was, knew the risk but he's a winner and he was going to make that catch come hell or high water!

To see the guy make those type of plays and think that two months ago the Yankee fans were booing him, have a word with yourselves, call yourselves the greatest fans in the world?

amazing game, amazing catch

too bad cairo made leskanic his b***h...would have loved to see the sox win, but after jeter made that catch, i knew the bombers had it

I absolutely agree. I was rolling my eyes so hard when they were fawning all over him. He *fell* into the stands because he was running so hard. Someone else, I forget who, did the exact same thing earlier in the game and noone was all over his jock.

I mentioned Ryan Freel from Cincinatti earlier..what he did was MUCH more taking one for the team. He *DOVE* into the stands to get the ball. He purposely jumped in them because he thought he could get the ball, not because he already had it and couldn't stop.

Oh well.. it's the Yankees. And Derek Jeter. No big shock that ass-kissing is occurring.

someone on top wrote that the play was overrated...wow i cant beleive how some people think...what jeter showed on that play was Heart and a i want to win to matter what attitude...thats is the reason the hated yanks are always on top because of players like Jeter...hopefully the marlins saw that play and thought to themselves...damn thats the way we should be playing...

Pokey Reese is the guy you are thinking about. He got about 3 seconds of air time for it.

most amazing game I ever saw. everything is going right for the yankees. they're 8 and a half ahead, they have a SS prospect tearing up AAA (Robinson Cano), Navarro is in AAA, Orlando Hernandez is getting major leage ready in Columbus, Karsay is too, even Scott Prcotor is doing well. The Yankees need to make ZERO trades besides for another bullpen arm if they want to be more gluttonous, but Brad Halsey would be a perfect lefty in the pen (not too much stamina, but deceptive stuff). The Yankees do not need an insurance starer, or another second baseman, or much of anything (besides a jose mesa to make an even more insane bullpen.)

What goes up must come down however.

by the way, poke reese's catch wasn't half the catch, he wasn't running as hard and making as dangerous of a play. I'm sure Jeter was aware of the risk involved, and I bet he thought a couple of fans would soften his landing.

Nice catch, but stupid play IMO. Why risk getting a season ending injury on early July? The NYY are leading the division by 8th

BTW, why the heck the Yankees always allow Pedro to get away with murder?

They just need to go at it 100%, bench clearing fight and gang up on the guy. That should take care of him for at least a couple of years.

If there are suspensions, so what? they have a nice lead going on the division.
