I know you try hard and all...but you see the offense struggling...you need to try harder.

I know you guys have the talents and all 5 of you could be aces on many teams. Now it's time to start acting like it. AJ, Pavano, and Willis are on track. Penny and Beckett need to join the party and give us better chances to win.

Even though it was only 3 runs given up, that was 2 runs we couldn't score tonight. Your teammates pick you up alot over the season, right now they need you guys to pick them up. They don't have the luxury of only being out there every 5 days and the fatigue is getting to them.

We need some shutouts badly. 3 runs in the first 3 innings is not helpful.

You've got to be kidding me Cape. :thumbdown

get this s*** out of here. You can't ask your pitchers to go out there and give you shut outs every night. This team can't score runs to save their lives. That is the reason we aren't winning ball games, it's hard to win when you only score 1 run.

Quality starts. Until this starting rotation can get beyond the sixth inning consistently, you will see the Marlins struggle.

Cape you are way off base.

Only allowing 3 runs in the game is considered a quality game.

The problem is primarily associated with the lack of timely hitting.

Amen!

This is just stupid.

3 runs in 4 innings of work is not a quality start. Never has been and never will be.

Beckett gave up 1 ER in the 1st inning (before we even came to the plate), 1 ER in the 2nd inning, 1 unearned run in the 3rd. He pitched a scoreless fourth and that was it.

just put them in the Capes's doghouse of misbehaviour

We need domination from the pitching staff early in order to wake this offense up. It gives nobody confidence when the starter gives up runs in the first. We are not the Phillies, Mets, or Braves where we score runs on call. We need good pitching from the start. AJ won because he held the Rays off until we scored enough runs for the victory.

Look, the pitchers do the best they can. And they've been pretty damn good. Do you understand the pressure that is on them when they know they have zero run support? A GOOD team can come from behind, and a lot of the time there have not been huge defecits to overcome. We get behind 2 or 3 runs and we all get a sickening feeling that the game is over. NO pitcher throws a shutout every time. I'd stop even bringing this up because you're just embarrassing yourself with every word.

It was his first GD game back from the DL for the love

We did score a run tonight. Had Beckett been able to get out of those jams without a run scoring (very possible)...we could have won.

Hindsight is 20/20, but giving up 3 runs in the first 3 innings isn't the path to victory.

I don't know why you guys keep blaming the offense...they don't let the runs come in for the opposition.

Look at the games we have lost this last month and tell me when were the majority of the runs scored? The first three innings...the starters are failing us for the most part.

lol

Starting pitching has been very disappointing recently. I know the rain in Atlanta screwed things up, but they need to give us 6 innings of work. Heck, Willis hasn't pitched 5 innings his past three starts, and hasn't reached the 6th inning in over half his starts.

It's nearly as bad as the offense.

Who would have thought that the bullpen would be the one bright spot the past few weeks?

If this team is going to turn it around it will have to start with the pitching, and if they come out and have 3-4 good outings in a row hitting will come soon there after

Offense is to blame Cape... in the last 5 games... we've scored a total of 9 runs...

9 runs in 5 games!

That's 1.8 scored per game... pretty pathetic if you ask me...

well it's not every day kip wells nearly pitches a shut out..

c'mon.

offense needs to back up the pitching staff. they can't be flawless all year round.
