bullpen sort of stinks

Featured Replies

maybe its time we consider getting kim. i personally think if we aquire kim, he can become a great addition to the pen.

and although kim is a headcase sometimes, i think choi can help him stay in check.

i dont know if many of you guys followed this kid but he can be lights out at times. remember in arizona when he was their closer? that was some of the best pitching i've seen from a pitcher. everyone that saw this guy pitch in arizona would agree.

anywho, when kim gets that 92-93 mph fastball back, you will see kim K the side regularly like he did in arizona.

just a thought.

The bullpen has talent and can get the job done.

They just aren't good enough to pitch without rest or in situations they are unsuited for.

You had to figure that the Manzanillo magic was going to run out sooner or later. There was a reason he had an ERA over 12 last year.

Koch should of came in the 8th, not overratedmanzanillo

I was saying Benitez. I was even saying Benitez when it was already 3-3 with 1st and 3rd 1 out. He's your best reliever, he's warmed up -- who gives a crap if it's not a save situation.

Oh well, get em tomorrow.

the bullpen sucks

and byung hyun kim sucks too.

eventually they'll figure out to start using benitez a bit more in relief, because he never makes it into half the games because they wind up blowing the goddam lead before they can get to benitez-time!!

what a stupid game tonight. aj has a sweet outing, and stupid manzanillo screws it all up. i can not stand this middle relief right now what so ever.

Mazanillo at least has proven himself before

And by the way

Its really hard to pitch with a 1 run lead, and our offense blew tonight also, if it wasnt for Choi and Alex we wouldve been shut out people.

Pierre Sucked tonight also.

I'd give up the chance to use Benitez for 2 days if we won.

And although McKeon's management continues to prove me wrong I still think this bullpen can hold together an one-run lead.

never should've taken aj burnett out.

retires the side on k's.. clearly on fire.

100 pitches or not, pitch count is stupid. if you can pitch, you can pitch, you have 4 days off.

He's coming off Tommy John surgery and it was the first time he's eclipsed 100 pitches this year. You HAVE to take him out when we did (108 pitches)

Dontrelle, what do you suggest? Last year adding a guy with a funky deliver (Willis) and guys from the AL (Fox, Helling) worked out. Why not Kim?

.........

..........

He just recently came off Tommy John Surgery..... You dont want to risk it, considering Beckett and recently Penny havent been feeling too well.

And If Burnett Allows four runs in the next inning, you wouldve give s*** to burnett

s*** happens.....No one else is to blame but the f***ing offense. It downright sucked, we cant depend on the longball to carry us to victory, its never have been, never will be our type of baseball

You shouldn't have to bring in Benitez with 0 outs in the 8th in a tie game at home. If this was a do or die game, then yes, but tonight's game did not qualify as such. The set up guys have to do their job.

I say it's time to give Bump the 8th inning role, he's been pretty solid since he was brought back up. Koch is another possibility, but right now let Bump prove himself.

all i want to see is some consistency in the pen

bump has shown he can pitch well recently..i believe before tonight his last 6 games were scoreless innings (bump probably wasn't charged with runs tonight anyways)

why not bring bump in to start that inning

You won't see any consistency.

Relievers are rarely ever consistent unless used in set roles.

It doesn't help when Jack misuses them either.

Exactly. Let's not forget that this bullpen has been overworked of late (more like the last month) because of injury, the elements, and just plain inconsistent performance.

If our starters can get through 7, we just need 2 innings from the pen. I think we got plenty of talent to get it done.

But the starters have got to get through 6/7 innings consistently to give the pen rest and help guys get confident with their roles.
