July 14, 200422 yr Red Sox trade Nomah to the Cubs for some prospects and then use those prospects to trade for the Big Unit Take it with a grain of salt as it is the NY Times. Here is the article: NY Times article
July 14, 200422 yr Seems a little risky on the Red Sox part since Unit is due so much moola and is not a young man but they are obviously trying to grab that championship this year. If it works, good for them. If not, they might be screwed for awhile.

A top three of Pedro, Schilling, and Unit would be ridiculous. I dont think we should give up on #5. He may be an ass rigth now. But he has been the face of that franchise for so long. Plus his bat has come alive recently and he is starting to put his play where his mouth is. I also dont want to get rid of Youklis who could be a top level 3rd baseman in a year or two.

July 14, 200422 yr Yes they will. This isnt the Expos. Plus, Theo said if they dont do it this yera, soem major things are going to change; but who knows.

Plus, Theo said if they dont do it this yera, soem major things are going to change; but who knows. 458092[/snapback] Well I asked cause of what Rotoworld said: Although the Red Sox could certainly use the Big Unit, giving up Garciaparra for the right to pay a soon-to-be 41-year-old pitcher $16.5 million next year doesn't seem like a great idea to us. Since they'd be practically handing Pedro Martinez to the Yankees, anything less than a World Series victory would be quite the setback for the organization.
July 14, 200422 yr Pedro needs Boston worse than they need him. His career is no doubt declining, and the Yankees would be foolish to pay him that much money when they already have 6 pitchers. Pedro wont go to the Yankees, ever.
July 14, 200422 yr The Big Unit in a sox uni... wow Anyone think he can still reach 100 mph with his fastball??
July 14, 200422 yr Author No but he can still throw it hard. His slider is ridiculous just as long as he doesnt go the Mets, I'll be happy. A trade will also help the old fantasy team out as well.
