June 16, 200323 yr HR Derby Contestant in Mike Lowell?... if he keeps this up, he will no doubt be in the Derby...... that would be pretty cool to watch
June 16, 200323 yr he wouldnt be their first. Sheff in '96 at the Vet in Philly, i think that was the only time. it would be cool if he got in though

June 16, 200323 yr i bet Steinbrenner would. i can see the smile on his face now it would be cool if he got in, especially if he does better than Sheff did. Sheff struggled quite a bit. whatever, if he gets in than in would be a great thing to see.
June 16, 200323 yr He's among the leaders in Homeruns in the NL. you have to believe he would be invited.
June 16, 200323 yr I'm guessing because he's not Mr. Potato Head i dont get it... Because's he's not a hulking freak who's body parts are too massive for his body. Basically he's not a roid freak...

June 16, 200323 yr Let's temper this discussion *just* a little bit... Lowell currently has, what, 21 home runs? The most he has ever had in an entire season before is 24. [clearly, he should break that pr] Now, let's look at some of the people within 2 or 3 home runs of him: Barry Bonds, Javy Lopez, Jim Edmonds, Albert Pujols, Andruw Jones... Then you've got your slow starters: Jim Thome, Jeff Bagwell, Todd Helton, Lance Berkman... Realistically, how many of you think he will remain in the top 5 or 10 for the rest of the year? He *could* have a freak season [a la Brett Boone], but I prefer to believe trends...
June 16, 200323 yr He is still developing his power...evidence which is provided through his doubles totals the past few years...not to say he hits in one of the least friendly hitters parks....This is not a freak thing.
June 16, 200323 yr I think these is the mike lowell will hit 30 or more homers for the next 3-5 years. This years he will get close to 40 is just my opionion. I also think he deserves going to the Derby.

June 16, 200323 yr I think that if Lowell hit 4 or 5 more homers before the break he will be in the derby.
June 17, 200323 yr As long as he makes the AS game and stays among the top 3-5 in HR, he is most definately a lock...
June 17, 200323 yr Yea it would be cool if he did make it to the Home Run Derby contest. He sure could make it if he keeps on hitting these Homers. He will probaly hit 6 or 7 more before the All star break but he does have a chance to make it!
June 17, 200323 yr I think if he made it he would have a chance... He won't win a distance contest, but when the ball is right down the pipe, he can put it out...
