July 16, 200422 yr I've read reports ( and I can't remember where ), that he was definitely ready to hit at the Major League level, but he wasn't ready defensively.

He's been playing (until he was called up last week) and has been improving all year, and I was wondering if anyone knew where he's at now. July 16, 200422 yr Willingham is said to be a good pitch-caller though. It's difficult to plug in catchers. Before Redmond got injured Treanor only caught for pitchers he handled in spring training. Anyone know who Willingham caught in ST?

In fact, he has greater value at catcher because we really dont have a guy on the farm who is being groomed as our catcher of the future except for Willingham, as far as I know. And I think circa '06 you will see Cabs, Reed and Hermida in our OF. I dont think Willingham projects ahead of them at this point. Which is another reason why we need to send him back down to the minors to get more seasoning at catcher.
July 17, 200422 yr The franchise not only has no catcher of the future, it doesn't have a real good starting catcher. The fish need Willingham to learn to catch by at most the end of next season.
