July 17, 200422 yr please send Willingham down... this isnt fair to the kid.... he needs to play everyday JP Luis Cabs Lowell meh Choi Alex meh #2 Pavy
July 17, 200422 yr Why are you meh'ing Conine when he has been one of our only run producers recently. 2-4 yesterday with an RBI and a grand slam the game before. What does the guy have to do to get you to get off his ass?

July 17, 200422 yr It has to start somewhere, and the way you posted that lineup -- sounds like you don't want to give him that chance. It's absurd, I know you love Willy but 9er deserves to start and replacing his name with "meh" is childish.
July 17, 200422 yr There is no point in keeping Willy up if he ain't playin. 461983 I agree. This is more than ridiculous. This is insane. Unless we're counting on frequent-flyer miles... We're breaking the Spirit of good young players who have earned a chance to be here. If they're worth bringing up, give them at least 3 starts. Particularly Wilingham at this time when we really need a catcher. (This from a big Redmond fan.)
July 17, 200422 yr Hopefully he can get some hits in that spot...I said 6-8 spots would get 16 hits in the series..only one so far isn't looking too good.

It's a build up. You've been riding Conine's ass for weeks now and just want to see his playing time cut so Willingham who has done nothing for this organization (granted hasn't had a chance yet) can have more time while Jeff has been an intregal part of the team in more than one season. Glad to hear you want him to do well, was starting to think you didn't. Especially with the notion that he should "take one for the team" and go on the DL so no doubt Willy can play. Nothing else really needs to be said though.
July 17, 200422 yr I am glad Willingham got in at catcher last night. I would like for him to get more playing time, but you have to start somewhere. He can contribute as a PH and a sub in LF and at C. If he does well when he gets a shot, he'll get more playing time. I don't think he should be sent down right now. He's in a position to help the team. He should stay.
July 17, 200422 yr I'm not too disappointed that Willingham is still up yet. If he is still here a month from now thats when need to start to get angry. But I think it was Marlins2003 who said it earlier. He is gaining valuable experience by being up in the majors right now even though he doesn't play every day. He can take whatever he learns back to AA or AAA when Beckett comes back.

And I want Willingham playing catcher, not LF
July 17, 200422 yr Trade Willingham or send him back down to the AAA. I mean everyone here talks about him so much like your on his ======D.......Jack hasn't given playing time maybe because he thinks Willingham isnt good enough for the big leagues. Otherwise he would have been playing right off the bat when he was called up.
July 17, 200422 yr why all this hype on Willingham? yall act like he's this teams savior or something!!
July 17, 200422 yr Author why all this hype on Willingham? yall act like he's this teams savior or something!! 462055 well he is a catcher which we need, and he was terrorizing AA ball so why not hype him up? not to mention the fact he is our #6 prospect
July 17, 200422 yr why all this hype on Willingham? yall act like he's this teams savior or something!! 462055 Nobody thinks Willingham is a savior. Something,... maybe? I think he could be a big part of the Marlins 2nd half run if he is given a chance. Alone, he won't make or break the club. However, I think he could be an important piece of the puzzle, as he can make some valuable contributions. He's got a smooth swing, can hit for power, and has shown discipline at the plate. Additionally, he has the ability to play in two positions where the Marlins need someone to step up, LF and C. I would personally rather see him playing catcher, but it's not going to happen overnight. I think he will see spot duty (PH, playing left, and catching every now and then, with some additional time behind the plate late in games that aren't close) until he gains the trust and respect of McKeon and the pitching staff. As the season continues, I think he will win the starting job at C and will make the team better.
July 17, 200422 yr I second the "meh" Conine has been terrible all year long...true, he has done well the last couple of games, but two games doesnt a season make. If he produces that way for the next month, then we'll get off his back...but until he shows any type of positive consistency -- well -- meh. and if your wondering -- I love Conine. He's done a lot for this organization but you can only be loyal for so long. He's been hurting the team all year long this season...and if we want to make a playoff push either he has to get on a tear NOW or he has to be replaced. In other words...if he doesnt continue what hes been doing the last two games (producing) it has to be the last straw.

"I think he will give you a little offense." The article said Willingham may have a chance to start Sunday's game. Link
