I'm not going to go into trade possibilities, we've beat that one to death already. Something's got to be done though. I realize the front office wants to see them win some games first & show some guts before they make a move to get them over the hump... But the way it's been going the past few weeks, they will have dropped out of contention by mid-August & it won't matter any longer.

 

We've got two outfielders who've combined for 8 homers, next to nothing from the catching position, a shortstop who still can't get over .250, and two guys in the middle of the order who are counted on EVERY NIGHT to win the game. Choi's done a nice job drawing walks but the back end of the order is so awful he never scores.

 

Starting pitchers can give up 2 runs in 7 innings every night & it's still not enough.

 

A trade is no longer a priority, it is a necessity.

 

In the meantime, I'd still like to see another shakeup in the order.

Who knows what would have happened. What we know: we lost, we played poorly, we had some mistakes in the field, and we only scored two runs. The point is that offensive production has been way down, not just Sat night, but all year. Looking foward, the Marlins need to find a way to put more runs on the board. Willingham has a stronger bat than any of the other catchers in the organization, and it is time to give JW a chance to make this team better.

i dunno. i wouldnt go as far as to blame Mando. He blew it true, but i mean a 1 run lead is a heavy load to preotect. especially comin in in the 8th inning w/ a runner ot worry about.

 

Offense is to blame 110%. No other way of lookin at it. if the team would have done somethin w/ RISP then Pavs would have had a better cushion and would probably have been less tense on the mound worrying about just ONE run.

If anyone is to blame its the key players, the RBI guys....Conine, Lowell, Caberera, Gonzo, and Redmond.

Dont blame it on Lowell or Cabrera cause they are the only ones that have brought runs in, blame it on conine redman and choi who combined have (90) rbi's last time i checked scot rolen had around (84) that is pathetic when the 5th,6th,and sometimes the 7th hitter combined have a little more than one guy.

if everyone thinks the team is consistently underperforming, i agree we absolutely need to fire bill robinson.

 

the team wasnt hitting well last year, and they're even worse this year. offhand i dont know how many runs we averaged in june, but we're averaging only 2.9 runs per game this month.

 

even if bill isn't the reason why we aren't hitting, at the very least his firing ought to serve as a meaningful kick-in-the-pants for the players.

hey, if he's fired and someone else is brought in and makes the team hit, im for it, but if he doesnt help, we just let one of the best hitters of all time go...and maybe its not such a bad thing, but i think the reason the team aint getting the runs is because pudge aint there. he'd do it all the time last year, get timley RBI's....and we let him go. We should have did whatever it took to keep him. putting ur faith in castro, it was bad in cuba and its bad for the marlins.

It's so frustrating to watch it because what it seems like that the team either becomes dead with the lead or if htey are down, it just looks like stop trying. Last night had so many opportunities to score runs. And only got that one big hit once. No one can step up it seems. The team has probably hit rock bottom with this loss. Last year they stepped up, can they do the same this year is the real question

I dont know if firing Bill Robinson is the best thing to do, but I do see the validity in the point.

 

I just wish the Marlins would learn to hit the ball to RF, hit it the other way and get back to playing small ball. You dont need to have the greatest speed in the world to do it. If you dont think so, look how SB's went down when McKeon took over.

 

On offense, we are missing Oz's 3rd base coaching and energy and Fudge's ability to hit the ball the other way. You cant replace Oz. But I have already suggested how to replace Fudge's opposite field hitting.

 

And if Willingham is going to play, he needs to catch. Otherwise, send him down.

what the hell are you talking about? Robinson was a career .258 hitter

It's not the players. It's not the hitting coach. It's the their approach on offense. Hacking for the fences and relying on a big inning doesn't work when you're a team that plays in a pitchers' park and had a total of 4 career 20 HR hitters in your franchise.
