Is the income tax unconstitutional?

to even talk about the dropping of nuclear bombs not being the end of the world is stupid.

they are the most destructive weapons on the face of hte earth and once nuclear war is entered...all will start dropping them as nuclear winter comes upon us.

In the grand scheme of things, 1, 10 or even 100 terrorist nukes going off around the world is not the end of the world. Inconvenient, yes - world ending, no.

Call me a socialist... But I really don't mind giving a percentage of my paycheck when I know it will be used to help others who are not as lucky as me to have a job, a bank account and education.

I don't mind to give the government some of my money if they use it for improving my quality of life.

Well first of all it isnt really for improving YOUR quality of life as much as (arguably) can improve someone else's life usually someone 'less fortunate' as they say. However, freedom includes choice wouldnt it be great (as oreilly mentioned last night)if on your IRS form it would give the option of whether or not you want to donate this money to the government, and apprently cyberlina you would give it, some people wont. Or at least if they would let you choose WHERE your money goes to. So lets say ok you have to pay taxes theres no say in the matter but you get to pick where it goes, that would be much better. Because if i want my money to go to eudcation, then there it goes, but lets say i dont want it to go to welfare for single mothers, then it doesnt have to go there, and so forth.

Dude, you don't have to get angry if I want to share my money for the well being of us all.

Listen, I understand where you are coming from. It is a pure and idyllic premise. I have nothing against letting people decide for themselves. In fact, that is what a democracy is all about. But to imply that income tax isn't necessary is not only unrealistic but reckless.

Imagine for a second that your dream comes true and we abolish taxes. The government has no money to pay for basic infrastructure like police stations, police officers, military, intelligence, hospitals, bridges, roads, water, electricity, etc.

Do you think private business would take care of these needs? No business is created for the purpose of losing money. That is why Buses, trains, roads construction, Police, etc have to be funded by government, in order to provide this basic infrastructure for the citizens of this country.

So now let's agree that we need these taxes to at least provide those services that a pure market economy would not provide.

I dont say we abolish all taxes, even though if you analyze it carefully people will use their money to pay for what they need and no one needs to be lacking. But ok realistically. How about keep income tax but let us choose where it goes at an individual level not with an election.

The problem is not the money Legacy. The problem is that even if the people now have that money available to them, they have nothing to spend it on... If the government has no money the infrastructure that I talk about wouldn't be there for us to use. The free market economy will not take care of building roads, because no one makes money out building roads, unless the government pays them for it. What about electricity for our homes and businesses, the bridges, the traffic lights, etc None of these could be available without income taxes.

Choose where it goes?? Explain.

so lets just get into nuclear warfare.....

why take preventive actions on this.

the 'all' is all the nations in possession of these weapons who also have a large hatred for the United States.

Doesnt North Korea have them also?

The only nation stupid enough to drop a nuclear weapon was us. I hope we dont make that stupid mistake twice....we got lucky that nobody else really had nuclear capabilities. We may not be so lucky next time.

financially supporting police stations, fire stations, bridges, roads (intrastate roads), electricity, etc. can come from INDIRECT state taxes...such as a sales or consumption tax. In fact, on such things as county or city roads, and police stations (and even hospitals), counties can pay for that.

Realistically, we will not get rid of the income tax. No government will decide to receive less money like that. It seems our country is going in the direction of "bigger is better"...the bigger government is, and the more THEY control our lives, the better (NOT my opinion...that's just what people seem to think).

wtf? This is an income tax thread, and now tonyi and das are talking about nuclear bombs, who would use them, what would happen if certain nuclear bombs were used. I understand incorporating nuclear bombs into defense issues, and therefore into money/tax issues...but s***, make a nuclear bomb thread or somethin.

Doesnt North Korea have them also?

479895[/snapback]

I don't know why I'm even having a discussion with someone who doesn't know the DPRK is North Korea. Tres lame dude...

cause i dont give a flying crap about abbrevations for nations.

Wasn't the ned of the world last 2 times...

Wasn't the end of the world during the period of atmospheric testing...

Wasn't the end of the world during the period of underground testing...

Who is this "all" you talk about?

The "club" consists of (including the maybe's) USA, UK, France, Russia (and republics), PRC, India, Pakistan, Israel, South Africa, DPRK.

Of the club members, only about half have thermonuclear capability (H-bombs), the rest are packing much lower yield fission weapons (A-bombs)

One good shake of the San Andreas fault releases a lot more energy than the largest H-bombs.
