July 31, 200422 yr Much moreso than before the trade. If we can upgrade Encarnacion in RF with Walker, and get a serviceable 5th starter, then we'll be set.
July 31, 200422 yr Much moreso before the trade. Our holes were at catcher and bullpen before. Relative to other catching tandems around the league we weren't doing that badly, and you can hide one or two bad arms in a bullpen.

July 31, 200422 yr Now we're just possibly due to lose every 5 starts, instead of the bullpen killing us as much! And runners won't steal as much on us..but that's what I can come up with.
July 31, 200422 yr boog mentioned it a 5 th starter will only be needed 5 or 6 times until the end of the year with all the off days.
July 31, 200422 yr True, they won't be stealing as much because there are no longer rookies playing behind the plate. There's still a problem of our pitchers not being able to hold runners though.
July 31, 200422 yr I don't remember us skipping Oliver much the first two months of the year. Why would that change now?
July 31, 200422 yr boog mentioned it a 5 th starter will only be needed 5 or 6 times until the end of the year with all the off days. 485714 With 59 games to go that averages out to once every 10 days.

There's still a problem of our pitchers not being able to hold runners though. 485720 Penny was the one most guilty of that. Pavano and Willis do an OK job. Burnett however, is just as bad as Penny as holding runners.
