Encarnacion talks about returning to the Marlins

Appreciative of his contributions to last year's title run, the fans gave Encarnacion a standing ovation when he pinch-hit in the eighth inning on Saturday night.

Encarnacion, who returned to the Marlins in Friday's big trade with the Dodgers, drove in 94 runs while playing a steady right field last season.

"I feel more comfortable here because I spent two years here," Encarnacion said. "The best thing that happened to me was being traded to the team I was with before. I appreciated the fans, that they welcomed me back. It was something to be excited about."

Asked if the Marlins can repeat as champions, Encarnacion said: "That's why we're here. That's why they are making moves."

The Marlins initially dealt Encarnacion to the Dodgers in December because they didn't see a spot for him. Conine was taking over in left field and Cabrera was being switched to right field.

While he was happy to be a part of a championship team, Encarnacion spoke out publicly about his disappointment of being benched in some World Series games.

McKeon doesn't see any personal problems with Encarnacion, saying it is natural for players to be upset when their time is reduced.

"I see it as a non-issue," McKeon said.

McKeon actually encouraged management to include Encarnacion in Friday's trade. The 73-year-old manager feels Encarnacion needed a change from Los Angeles, and returning to the Marlins should pick up his performance.

well i'm glad carny's happy to be back and that there's no hard feelings about being benched last season.

I think he'll be fine, and I'm happy we got Cabs out of right.

I think that seeing Cabs out of right field is the biggest part of this trade.

I agree. Getting a .235 hitter isn't great, but its worth it if it means sending Cabs back to LF. Plus the other two players in the deal are awesome.
