A New Ballpark...

Featured Replies

By the way e-pass merged with sunpass and they can be used with each other. (or was that o-pass?)

O-Pass is for Osceola county which has only one expressway besides the Turnpike...

That's the Osceola Parkway

Which starts as a normal road, then turn into an expressway for a couple of miles (for no reason) then return back to a road than enters Disney World as an expressway and ends at the Animal Kingdom Lodge...

The OB is in a good location. It has been there since the 1930's and people are familiar with the location, unless the happen to be on this board. LOL :D The main problem with the area is parking (7,000 spaces on site for 70,000 people.) most people park in neighbor's land for $5-$15 depending on game or use mass transit's park and rides. PArking garage sowuld solve the parking problem fairly easily.

The perfect area for a ballpark is near US 27 and the Turnpike... A major highway with a highly used Toll Road equal excellent transportation...

That's if we go without UM. If we go UM.MArlins combo, it must be near UM campus in Coral Gables. US27/Turnpike is too far for UM.

In a couple of years it wouldn't shock me to see development in that area... I wonder why there isn't planing around there.

US 41 is about 20 blocks south, about 5 miles or so and is a free road. The 836 is a toll road but widely used. Flagler is about 10 blocks away and is also free. US 1 connects with US41 and Flagler. The 836 is not a killer toll and you can get off before the toll and use local roads to get there if you won't pay the toll.

I think Orlando was a little smarter in that area... they make you pay the tolls in the exit so you can't avoid them once you enter the toll road...

You can't do that because many lower income people live there and they need that road to get home. They also had to suffer the construction, so they have to be given a break.

Who said Orlando doesn't have lower income people...

They don't live around it and have to use the toll road though. In that area 836 must be used in most cases. That is why the toll is at the OB and not before.

The 408 and 528 are East to West toll roads and since the only road that goes from east to west in Orlando is Colonial Drive or SR 50... people who live on the eastern side of Orlando must have to pay toll to get home or suffer the horrible traffic on SR 50 which reminds me of Miami Traffic... :plain

At least they have SR50, the airport makes the 836 the only road the can get there. Many of the east-west roads get cut off by Blue Lagoon. You would have to go down to Flagler which is about 10 blocks and then go back up.
