June 23, 200323 yr Author Das, every ballpark (even fenway) can be a gridiron. Fenway used to be home to the Boston Redskins. They played there fine, and it is a baseball only ballpark by definition right?

June 23, 200323 yr in order for a stadium to be built with public funds i am pretty sure the public would have to approve of that.

June 23, 200323 yr Author The money is there, e must be able to pay it back. Bonds are like credit cards, that's what Penelas is worried about. If the club gives him thier word, he will do it.

June 23, 200323 yr A baseball-only stadium means the buidling and seats are specifically configured for baseball. The combo stadiums of the 70s such as Riverfront, Three Rivers, Veterans were just circles where any type of field could be placed. Sure, since a baseball field is bigger than a football field, you can put down a football field somewhere, ala Fenway, but that is still baseball-only.

June 23, 200323 yr 400 million is not the expensive if UM backs out of the OB thing, the gov't already approved a 100 million fund so then maybe they give to the the stadium the marlins could built. 300 million more would be needed maybe with public funds and Loria could give some money too.

June 23, 200323 yr Author In Florida all you need is a county/city commision vote to approve bonds and then challengers must get petition in order to take it to the voters if i remember correctly. No one is really against it, we are tourism minded and this helps retain the OB Tourney or get another bowl game, people will be for it.

June 23, 200323 yr Author listen up guys, bonds will have to pay all costs to build. The loans must be repayed. The gov't wants a commitment from the team on the immediate future (WIN God Dammit, is what they are saying basically) The problem is will the new park raise enough revenue to repay it and the answer is yes. with the marlins, um, a bowl game, maybe about 15 other events there it will produce the $$$$.

June 23, 200323 yr Author yes! UM needs it. The Marlins need it. 58% of Dade/Broward People of Voting Age claim to be Marlins supporters. In 2000, Hialeah voters approved a ballpark plan without even being asked by the team.
