June 22, 200323 yr Author Mills would be the naming sponsor and builder of the stadium. It would be coowned by Mills and MArlins. Have stores, cafes, and other cool stuff. Either in Dade as part of Marlins Mills Complex or part of Sawgrass Mills Mall
June 22, 200323 yr Thats cool Beingest should talk to this people, but does the marlins at least get 65% of revenue and do they get paid for the naming rights? BTW: I knew Mills build stadium but why would they want to own one? Oh well who care i just hope later on if it happanes Loria buys the other part. I also hope it is build in dade.

June 22, 200323 yr Author Naming rights in exchange for less money paid in construction for team. They would own the stadium and get 50% of all lease/rent from tenants. Mills hoped to build storefronts, restaurants, cafes into the ballpark and charge rent. Imagine a mini mall in a ballpark, similar to the Oasis.

June 22, 200323 yr Author henry rejected them several times if i recall, they probably won't know anything about it or not answer. That was during a good economic period for mills so they may not be willing to use thier line of credit so easily right now.

June 22, 200323 yr Author the mills idea would require a loan/bond from the local government to help cover costs until the building is built and operational. Sales tax and payments from the fish and mills would pay back taxpayers for money with interest. Nashville, Gaylord Entertainments (owner of the Grand Ole' Opry and the Nashville Preds i believe), and Mills built a large mall, convention center, and arena complex there easily.

June 22, 200323 yr Author fish don't pay rent...restaurants, shops, and other tenants do. The fish can't pay rent to themselves. They own about 50% of the ballpark if it were to happen.

June 22, 200323 yr Author yes, but only for about 5-10 years. they would survive because sawgrass is thier most expensive and profitable property. remember they would get 50% of all stadium proceeds. That includes parking, rent from expansion of mall, concessions, tickets sales.

June 22, 200323 yr Looking at it that way I think they still could affford to built a stadium. I think that when Loria ask for a stadium they will make the offer they gave to Henry. Man Henry could have easily built a stadium here. BTW: Are you an expert on Mills or something?
