MANZANILLO...

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me why Josais Manzanillo repeatedly

beats himself in the nuts when he pitches???

He had testicular repair surgery after being hit in the balls by a line drive awhile ago. I suppose he does it as a reminder to himself to not take anything for granted.

That's how I interpret it

Okay,...and why does he sprint off of the field like a madman at the

end of the innings?

Why is the sky blue? Why does a caged bird sing? Why did they make a Rocky V?

Why is that response necessary? :p

Because he is wild and wants to pump up the team. Also its probably just a superstition of his.

I'm pretty sure this is the correct answer. I heard Len and Tommy talk about it when he first joined the team. I didn't know he had surgery, but I know he got hit there once and now beats himself there to remind himself not to take anything for granted.

I appreciate the info. I actually got to pitch to him, but I wasn't going

to be rude and ask him. Despite his craziness, he's a cool guy!

He sprints off the field like a mad man because he uncle or father told him a long time ago "the faster you get back to the dugout the longer you have to rest." Craig asked him in an interview with Marlins On Deck a while ago and that's what he said.
