August 17, 200422 yr EDIT: If no one cares about you except your family, you must not care to make friends or you are genuinely hated. Of course you being hated could be for the wrong reasons.. 514644 I didn't mean it like that. Of course my friends, family, etc. care about me. What I was trying to say was, the career politicians like Bush, Kerry, etc. do not care about me or my interests, all they care about are votes and in the real world nobody is truly looking out for you except yourself regardless of what any politician claims. Also, I disagree that there is a conservative equivalent of her. I may be wrong, for all I know there may be one considering i'm not very active in this portion of MB.com, however from what i've seen there are no conservatives on here which are as aggressive or hateful as her towards people that have different opinions, though this thread is making me think differently. I'm a Marlins fan, we all are on here, i'll probably eventually even meet some of you guys in real life at a meet at an upcoming Marlins game or something. The problem I have with the Politics forum is that what is said in here does not stay in here and this forum causes problems and tension amongst members in other areas of MB.com. Time and time again, someone will insult the intelligence of another member because they disagree with their political views. Rather than refuting the other persons argument in a mature way, they will reply in a very sarcastic and hateful manner just like what many people in this very thread have done. 514656 Actually, no, what stays in the politics forum stays there Accord. I have never called out anyone in any other forum to my knowledge about political inclination. Nor have I seen others in a long time do it...
August 17, 200422 yr "That is asinine, do not put words in my mouth. People like you are the reason there is no integrity in this political forum. That's right, there is such a thing called principle and that is precisely the reason why I am voting republican in my first ever election. " You explicitly said you care about no issues that do not pertain to you. that is the very definition of lacking principle. you are obviously so ignorant and selfish, you do not realize that. good day.

You call me ignorant and selfish, this is the internet, it does not in the least bit phase me. If insulting me on the internet makes you feel like a big man, then go right ahead, i'm not going to lower myself to your level. I always see you getting into ridiculous arguments with other people over nothing, always baiting and flaming people, i'm surprised you haven't been banned/suspended yet. Like I said, don't put words in my mouth. That's right I don't care about many issues that don't pertain to me TO A CERTAIN POINT, but rather than thinking logically you simply generalize what i've stated and somehow came to the absurd conclusion that I would vote for a brutal dictator if it meant I could make more money. I am not ignorant nor selfish, I am merely looking out for myself and what is in my best interests. The economy is not the only issue I care about, national security is a big issue for me as well which I have already stated, yet you completely ignored that because you knew damn well that your argument would be completely invalid. Welcome to my ignore list, trying to get through to simpletons such as yourself is nothing short of futile.
August 17, 200422 yr Ok first off, accord, by your own words you I believe you are incorrect. You state you are a college student who works his butt off and Im guessing gets nothing or little from his parents. Thats also my status. That being said, I say your argument that Bush is better for you is simply wrong. Why? You cannot be in the higher end tax bracket. If, as you state, you are a college student who works, you are probably in a lower tax bracket. Now if Im wrong, please state to me this. I dont want to ask you how much you make but you are implying your tax bracket. That being said, you dont pay most of the taxes nor is John Kerry asking you to pay more taxes. In fact Kerry, following Krugman economics, is stating a tax cut for middle to lower class. In addition, if you are a lower tax bracket person, the money that comes out of your paycheck comes back in when you apply for those tax refunds at the end of the year. That is my case. You state you are going to face a crapload of debt right? So am I. Ill be around 125k within a few years. I have no doubt in my mind that the better person to assist me will be John Kerry. Id like you to tell me specifically how Bush puts more money in your pocket. Ive heard the tireless argument that dems just tax more. But I want specifics. I want you to show me how Bush's tax proposals as opposed to Kerry's leaves you, specifically, with more money because Im just not buying it. As far as having this perspective on the liberals, youre absolutley and totally wrong. The flaming goes both ways. CFdodgemarlin insults liberals in his signature. Do you see anything like that on our end? There have been numerous attacks on Kerry without any substance. People have posted stuff and then called out the other side to respond while adding rhetorical phrases for the set up. But add to this accord, that you respond to sorianofan with insults. Perhaps if you tried to keep it above the fray, others would too.
August 17, 200422 yr Taxes are a form of necessity yes (I don't know how no taxes got brought into this but I digress), excessive taxes aren't. That isn't the issue at hand. Accord brought it into the argument when he said he would vote for the guy who put the most money in his pocket. I can only assume he means the won who taxes him the least as politicians dont really put money in peoples pockets nor do they actually go in and take it out. With that strict statement, a candidate that taxes him at a rate of zero should be the ideal candidate. most disagreements between my side of thought and yours is how we'd like to use/have our money used. And therin lies the the bond that we all share right? The one that would allow sorianofan and beinefest to unite with each other. Thats not what accord said and thats clearly not how a lot of people read it. We should all want what is best for this country. Its one thing to make the argument that, by keeping money in ones pocket, you are doing what is best. Its another thing to say to hell with the rest of the country, I look out for numero uno.

His comment was derived from the choice of two candidates, neither of which are proposing the abolishment of the tax system, and therefore conclusions drawn from his statements are just assumptions that connect the dots when there are no dots to connect. I don't really draw much from what Accord said, it's his business. I agree, we all want what is best for the US, though we disagree greatly on the means from which to bring this about. But I honestly don't see where he was saying to hell with the rest of the country. He said he didn't think it was important to him as determining the President of the United States, but he never said (at least I don't think so) that he could care less about these issues completely. He might care about them and take them into consideration in Congressional elections, who knows. They have more power over it anyways.

August 17, 200422 yr You are the very reason the politics forum on MB.com has no integrity whatsoever, you have absolutely no respect for people that disagree with you. I have no repect for morons or moronic things. I can diagree with someone and respect them as long as they are not moronic. however, by denying the very wors YOU WROTE lack principle is nothing less than the definition of the word moronic. "I plan on voting for the candidate who will allow me to bring home the most amount of money at the end of the day, and that candidate is Bush. I don't care about gay rights, stem cell research, abortion, blah blah blah. None of that has any effect on my life or the lives of people I know." Now, I might not be literate in the english language, but the above indicates that you are a selfish person looking to line your own pockets void of no principle. if somehow not caring about issues not applicable to you is an action of principle, please explain oh wise one. You're laughable. You call me ignorant and selfish, this is the internet, it does not in the least bit phase me. Why do I care if it phases you? I know what I say is true when it concerns what you already wrote. That is all that matters to me. If I said, "I hate gooks", someone here can call me a racist. That does not mean they are trying to act like a big man, they are merely pointing out the obvious. Anyone who said what you said warrants to be called exactly what they acted like. End of story. That's right I don't care about many issues that don't pertain to me TO A CERTAIN POINT, but rather than thinking logically you simply generalize what i've stated and somehow came to the absurd conclusion that I would vote for a brutal dictator if it meant I could make more money. Obviously you don't see exaggeration as a means to making a point. Life is not black and white. Most people are not the neat tidy guidelines for liberal and conservative or selfish and selfless. However, by your berating of liberals and what you have said above and previously, it is rather safe to say you are a selfish conervative who lacks principle. end of story. I am not ignorant nor selfish, I am merely looking out for myself and what is in my best interests. Yeah, that's not selfish... Looking out for everyone as a whole is not being selfish. sadly, not enough people do that. There are more people than yourself. The economy is not the only issue I care about, national security is a big issue for me as well which I have already stated, yet you completely ignored that because you knew damn well that your argument would be completely invalid. Hmm, you care about the economy, but not defecit spending. You care about national security, yet by your standards that entails pissing more people off and making more enemies. You conveniently don't care about social issues that do not pertain to you because you like the status quo. Who the hell are you kidding? You are a stalwart, close minded, selfish, comservative in all liklihood. You are merely justifying the party line ideology that has been ingrained in you. Then when you believe your belief ystem is threatened, you write a whole thread to rid the board of politics...are you afraid your precious bubble might pop? Does voice of decent scare you because they might not be in YOUR BET INTEREST are make you feel good about your party affiliation? Cry me a god damn river. Welcome to my ignore list, trying to get through to simpletons such as yourself is nothing short of futile. Well guess what! You will see this and I'm not going to PM you, so your effort is an useless one. Again, just like when you started this thread you are just trying to run away from anything that questions your unfaltering and ignorant beliefs.
August 17, 200422 yr I do plan on being a high end earner and eventually rid myself of the debt. As far is paying more, Im fine with it. I feel its my personal responsibility to contribute having had society invest in me. I dont want those same investments gone now that Ive used them up.

I feel its my personal responsibility to contribute having had society invest in me. I dont want those same investments gone now that Ive used them up. 515361 I do too. The difference is that I don't want to give my money to the government and have them disperse my money to different "needy" people. I want to give my money through tithing, donations, and actually giving TIME to the community.
August 17, 200422 yr If you want me to respond to ignorance, than I will By voting for Bush STRICTLY in order to be able to take home more money when you get your paycheck is selfish, knowing that many other people are not surviving under his power, due to his favoritism to the rich and employed. People that use a basis like that to choose who they are going to vote for for and have that type of mentality are INDEED selfish. and please, dont give me this "how do we know he wont donate that extra money to charity" arguement, that is just fluff. how is that considered a 'good point'. That would be a huge contradiction of views, To vote for a man that couldnt give 2 sh*ts about the poor, and than turn around and donate your extra money to them. Not gonna happen. And if someone who votes for him, indeed does that...than good for them, but they really are mixed up on what he stands for than 513317 Talk about not knowing politics, geez. The only difference in eocnomic policy b/w a conservative and democrat has to do with who controls the money, to say it simply. Conservatives feel the money is best in the hands of individuals including workers, who in fact, do make money. Liberals think if government controls 'money' then they'll be able to put it to better use than if individuals had it. both groups care about the people, ALL people. Where you can maybe argue that republicans leave ppl out is more in terms of the morality issues in delaing with different lifestyles and life choices. That conservatives dont care about 'the poor' is as ignorant and unknowing as it gets. both parties care, they just have different ways of helping the american people whteher you agree with the emthods or not is a different story

[bTW, I worked my way through a graduate degree without ringing up a dime of debt along the way] If no, why support someone who wants to hurt you more as a high earner? 515353 why work up debt? 1. either he's doing ivy league or something 2. he's too lazy to get a job and he wastes a lot of money 3. my assumptions are way off
