ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Juan Gonzalez was not in the Texas Rangers' lineup Tuesday night, and manager Buck Showalter confirmed the team reached an agreement with an unidentified team to trade the two-time AL MVP.

The Rangers wouldn't identify the team they are dealing with, or what they would get in return, because Gonzalez has a no-trade clause in his contract. The outfielder has 72 hours to accept or turn down the trade.

Showalter confirmed the trade during his regular gathering with reporters before Tuesday night's game against Oakland. General manager John Hart didn't immediately return phone messages.

Gonzalez is in the second year of his $24 million, two-year deal he signed to return to Texas before the 2002 season. The Rangers would likely pay most of Gonzalez's remaining salary.

Gonzalez is hitting .286 with 18 homers and 50 RBIs.

Tatis makes 6.5 million and Barrett makes about 2.5 million

Expect both to be in this deal to equal out the salaries along with pitching prospects like Karp and Song

also Rangers are gonna pay a big part of Juan Gone's salary according to Stark from ESPN

I am pumped. Although Juan still needs to accept it so it's not official..

maybe livan, el duque, day, schneider, and tatis

They cannot trade el duque, he is in the DL and may miss the rest of the season. It doesn't make sense trading away 2 of your starting pitchers to add one bat: whatever happened to Guerrero, did he come off the DL or what? Also, what is this about the Expos, who are owned by the other 29 teams, adding more salary for a playoff run? All the while we are standing passive doing nothing and letting all kind of rumors fly about a possible fire sale!!! :banghead :banghead

The rangers will pay whatever is left in difference between the salaries. Not one cent added to the Expos payroll.

Vlad should be back near the all-star break for those are wondering.
