June 25, 200322 yr I was born down the street at Hialeah Hospital, but never lived in Hialeah. I was there many times as a child and I loved it. The horses, the old charm of the park, the family atmosphere. I hated it when the owners had to stop the horses because of $$$. I follow the track and know the owners look to start races again maybe next season. Then that's bad races next year?
June 25, 200322 yr Marlins 2003, Have you ever been there? If not, you may want to take a little drive around town this weekend. I've been past the site a hundred times in the past decade, I know it well. I also know that trying to get around in Hialeah is hell on earth. Ask any cabdriver. I wouldn't have posted as I did if I was unfamiliar with the site. It's a beautiful piece of land that unfortunately is just in the wrong place.
June 25, 200322 yr It's not bad Laz. The races are good for the park. They say that the owners can keep afloat. There is enough space for the races and the ballpark.

Laz, how is the traffic nearby? Is it still hell? Compared to Downtwon it would be much better. Hialeah is also a suburb and is close to almost all the other suburbs. There is mass transit on site. (MetroRail and MetroBus)
June 25, 200322 yr NW 79 Street ends at the park. So Marlins2003, take the 79th Street Causeway and take it all the way down to Hialeah Park. :lol

So Marlins2003, take the 79th Street Causeway and take it all the way down to Hialeah Park. :lol Please Capefish, I live at the east end of seventy-ninth street corridor, in Miami Beach (in Miami Beach its 71st street). I told you I drive the area all the time. Sheesh, unless you think I'm lieing, stop posting as if I don't know where the track is. Take a ride on the weekend? No thank you, I'm not a masochist. I'm not going to post on this thread again. The site is not appropriate, the neighborhood is depressing, the streets clogged and filthy, I can't think of anything I'd rather do less than to drive to Hialeah to see a baseball game. There is about zero chance of a stadium ever being built there.

June 25, 200322 yr I can think of a worse situation Marlins2003. Driving to Downtown Miami. The streets there are clogged during the time when games start (7:05) from weary commuters stuck in traffic jams and dirtier than any street in Hialeah can be. BTW, here is an article on the track's future and current problems. http://southflorida.bizjournals.com/southf.../05/story7.html
June 25, 200322 yr I know that there have been alot of construction projects going on. My grandaunt lives in Hialeah and she is always sying all the streets are being closed due to construction.

June 25, 200322 yr Wouldn't there be a problem with having horses running around the outfield???
June 25, 200322 yr I would rather go to Hialeah where I know I won't get mugged, rather than go to Downtown, where I know I will get mugged after 6pm. The beach ain't even nice anymore. I love my paradise out here in SW florida.
June 25, 200322 yr Malman, look at the aeiral view of hialeah park and the BOB. The ballpark can fit in one of the excess parking lots in hialeah park. both the racetrak and ballpark can coexist.

Hialeah is not as bad as you think and I think LIL LAZ came up with a good site for a new stadium.Clogged and Filthy?that sounds more like downtown where is 100* more dangerous than Hialeah.
June 25, 200322 yr Downtown is not family friendly. See the Miami Heat in the AAA, they cannot really attract families because the seats are expensive and the location is bad. The Marlins NEED Families. Hialeah Park is about as safe or safer than PPS. It probably would be cheaper and more enjoyable as well.

I think triple AAA arena is an by far better location than old Miami arena even though they are rest next to each other.I remember being 10 years old going to Miami arena and seeing all those homeless people and crack addicts you'll see.Heat main problem right now is they are not winning (Lets face it Miami is badwagon town) plus I have to admit the seats are pretty expensive.
June 25, 200322 yr Minus that is true. But the Panthers who play hockey a much less popular sport down here and who have about the same win-loss record draw larger crowds. The reason is that people will enjoy going to a Panther game more because it has a much better location than the AAA. I agree the Miami Arena was in a terrible location, but the AAA is only a few blocks away.
June 25, 200322 yr 2002-2003 Season Heat 25-57 Panthers 24-36-13-9 Heat Avg. Attendance 15,323 Panthers Avg. Attendance 15,428
June 25, 200322 yr I been near the Race track and pretty much that area sucks... traffic there would be horrible with a stadium...
June 25, 200322 yr Yea, imagine how much money the team/state would save by buying a bigger piece of property in Hialeah than a smaller property on the water in Miami... There's quite a difference there...
June 25, 200322 yr DT, Hialeah Park has more potential for improvement than Downtown. First you must clear the homeless from Downtown (judge ordered against this), stop the muggings, get more parking, clear the traffic from rush hour, get better highways, increase mass transit reach, and put police at every corner. Good Luck. Put me in for Hialeah Park.
June 25, 200322 yr get better highways If you mean by expanding or repaving... that'll be pretty tough there... lots of family/little stores around that entire area... first of all there has to be at least a minimun of a 6 lane highway (3/3) in there for traffic... just that would take 15 years in Miami... hey... it took them 2 1/2 years to build a damn on ramp to the 826 on 49th street
