Bonds plays in the modern era. Babe Ruth hit lotsa homers before they were that common, even hitting more homers than entire teams. Bonds is just the best hitter in our time(maybe), not of all time.

That's an endless discussion that can go either way. Sure, Babe Ruth hit more homeruns than entire teams, but he was hitting them off guys who were bagging groceries in the off season.

 

Nobody has ever affected a game like Barry has and you can't deny that. Babe Ruth was never walked or feared this much. Even the baseball historians agree to that. Take away half of Bonds' walks and you'll see some ridiculous numbers. The guy can see 2 good pitches to hit all game and still do something with them.

 

We'll never know who was a better hitter for sure, but in my opinion, Bonds is the best of all time.

Those guys did not affect a game like Barry did.... They weren't as feared as Bonds is, plain and simple. Last night, the friggin D-Backs walked him 3 times. A team that is like 96 games out of first with a month to go. Why would they not pitch to him?

 

And I am so sick of hearing the steroids argument. Bonds is never hurt, which is usually a big indication when someone is on roids. I'm sure Barry hasn't taken any more than your buddy Paul O'Neill there...

I've been following the Giants all my life and Barry has gradually gotten bigger. Read some articles from San Francisco. The guy works his arse off and doesn't get the respect he deserves.... 1. bonds would have ways around testing, testing is a farce. (furthermore bonds exploded in size between 1998 and 1999)

gaining weight doesn't make your head grow. neither does muscle. my father gained 40 pounds (and even more) at one point since his prime marathon shape when I was a kid. his head might be fuller, but not THICKER.

 

Cliff Floyd and Sammy Sosa are too men who gained an incredible amount of muscle but their heads are just as thick.

 

Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens have THICKER heads than their early 20s, which leads me to believe they abuse Human Growth Hormone and probably take that with steroids (which would be the point to taking HGH in the first place.) The balco scandal shows that the accused were sent both steroids and HGH. barry shows obvious signs of HGH abuse...did he just skip the steroids? then how about all of that muscle?
