MarlinFan10
Yeah, the cubs and phils are all but done this year. :whistle
MarlinsChik305
id b cool if we do make it to the playoffs, and ESPN will say " we knew theyd make it." but theyre being realistic, in a negative way. :thumbdown

miami15
What happened to the Marlins in 2003 made for one sensational Fish story. But this year, their story is a different kind of tale -- a tale about the one that got away. We were leading the race most of September. Being 4.5 gms out behind like 4 teams with what 12 days left is impossible. Don't get your hopes up guys.
Marlins2003
Jayson Stark has been the Marlins most consistent supporter at ESPN for two years. When Gammons et al were trashing our team and our owner Stark was a singlely encouraging of the South Florida franchise. I didn't find this piece to be negative, I thought it was a fair piece. RockyMountainMarlin
That article is on the money. We're a team that has no juice left, and less firepower with AJ out. The Hurricanes did us in. If MLB were more compassionate and have rescheduled the games at the end of the regular season then we would have had a good a shot as any. QuickGold
You have to at least say it is a fairly well written article, even if you dont share the author's opinion. Anything's possible!
jonnylons
The article is fair. I agree that MLB screwed us over with scheduling. There is no reason why we couldnt have had at least 1 off day somewhere in here. And that one 'home game' in Wrigley. The Marlins didnt make excuses but just believed they would somehow overcome it all. They still believe. And they will continue to fight - got to love that. It is sad because I really dont think the other teams in the WC race are better than the Marlins. Especially the Giants who made some kind of deal with the devil. Hotcorner
exactly, the article's not negative. it's basically showing how much Hurricane Frances changed things & put the team in a hole.
jonnylons
Although I dont agree that our playoff hopes were 'all but dashed' after splitting the DH with the Cubs. I dont see how losing one game to them makes that big of a difference at this point. Sure, winning both would be nice, but they arent even the WC leader at this point. But the Cubs did luck out by having the series get washed out.
Guest Juanky
I don't think the article is negative all to tell you the truth. It shows the Marlins' players in a positive light for not blaming the hurricane, but honestly if it never comes life is alot different. We'll never know how far this team would have gotten, but oh well. Then again, once this year we did make up 5 games in 6 days. I'm down to do that again. mafatumatt
a sad but true article. the hurricanes and all that hurt us, but more importantly, we killed ourselves by playing average baseball throughout the mid-season. but there is always next year, and there will be a next year. until then, enjoy the last few games of the year. our players need our support even when they are not winning. QuickGold
we killed ourselves by playing average baseball throughout the mid-season. 566978[/snapback] That's the reason we're not closer than we are to the playoffs. Don't blame hurricanes, curses. Bartman, etc
Mabdul Doobakus
0-11 streak against last place teams anyone? 5-6 and we're leading this WC race now.
