I loved this book when I read it in like 7th grade.

Johnny was pure hardass for a kid who was the quiet type.

Exactly what I was thinking. It was good in middle school.

I love the book. I own both the book and the movie. It was kinda hard for me to believe S.E Hinton wrote it when she was just 16 years old at first. Great book.

I can't say I'm a fan and I've seen both. Call me crazy, and it's just my opinion, but I'm not a fan of the kind of macho garbage S.E. Hinton writes about. It's that whole "Danny and the Deep Blue Sea" pretense I can't stand about certain male characters. It's like they have this macho-tough guy to overcompensate for their weak character.

But, maybe it's just me. I also really like Fight Club, so maybe I'm just being a facetious a-hole.
