Ballpark Sites...

what about if we developed an area that had the ballpark and the other stuff that makes other ballparks successful? Like a ballpark village? It would be near highways and mass transit, but have the feel of a downtown, with office buildings? I heard that the dadeland developers had space for a ballpark in thier plans? Mass transit goes down there, but it is very far for people north of hialeah to get to. If you haven't seen the plans for "downtown" dadeland, they are very nice and will be done by 2008 i believe.

any links for "downtown" dadeland?

You have a link of "Downtown Dadeland"? 2008? Would they start building until then, or would the area be finished by then?

As much as I would love a ballpark in downtown dadeland considering its about 10 minutes from my house, that would never happen. its way too far south to even be considered. the area is already too congested as it is. btw, theyve already cleared the land and building should start soon for downtown dadeland.

Could someone please post another link because that link does not work.

It would be perfect if the marlins started building the park in 2004 or 2005 then they could move right in on 08 or 09.

Guys forget about Dadeland. We just need a ballpark that is easily accessible and will tell fans that the Fish are here to stay and here to win.

Only takes two-three years to build a ballpark.

I thought it took four years. In that case the marlins could start building in 2005

Bicentennial Park Site Information

Location: Miami Bay frontage on Biscayne Boulevard, just north of channel, adjacent to new American Airlines Arena.

Size: Approximately 30 acres.

Site Control: City of Miami.

Major Roads: Biscayne Boulevard, Interstate 395.

Parking: Limited space for on-site parking; approximately 10,000-15,000 spaces available within 10-15 minute walk.

Major Attributes: Significant development link between the American Airlines Arena and the proposed Performing Arts Center. Located in urban district within Miami-Dade Empowerment Zone. Potential for signature facility to further define Miami waterfront. Could provide major spark to downtown redevelopment and significant pedestrian access to under-utilized waterfront park.

Other Considerations: Limited mass transit access; limited people-mover capacity. Limited on-site parking available. Possible environmental problems on-site.
