November 15, 200421 yr So they take the winners of the 6 BCS conferences... leaving 2 at-large spots.. and if you are in the Top 6 of the BCS rankings, you get an automatic at-large bid. The new rankings out now have Utah, Cal and Texas in the Top 6.. all non-conference winners. Wouldn't that total 9 teams for 8 spots? Or am I missing something?

November 15, 200421 yr No you have it wrong. If you are in the top 6 you only get an automatic bid if you are in a Non-BCS confrence. You need to be in the top 4 to get a gaurenteed at large big if you are in a BCS confrence.

November 16, 200421 yr Utah will probably finish #6 and get 1 at large bid.... Leaving Cal and Texas to fight for the other bid, which Cal would almost guaranteed get (as they should, they are a better team than Texas). As a result, for the second year in a row, Texas is the 9th team in a 8 team picture and goes to the Holiday Bowl out in San Diego. And what makes it really interesting is Boston College will probably get the auto bid out of the big east, despite the fact they are ranked around 20 or so, well behind Texas (plus, there is no way BC is as good as Texas).

We played them with our backup QB, 2 back ups on defense, on the road, threw THREE (yes 3) INT's that got taken back for TD's and still led by 14 to start the 4th quarter before choking it away by giving up 3 touchdowns. And NIU is probably the 3rd best team in their own MAC division....
