November 22, 200421 yr Redmond is a sound backup catcher and we're leaving it up to 2 guys who didn't show a whole lot this past season. If we're "saving money" by not resigning Redmond, fine but please sign some other guys who are worth the money.

He'd be lucky to make a tenth of that as a first year minor league coach. It's a no-brainer. Idle speculation on my part, but it seems to me the Marlins' modus operandi with guys like Redmond is to let the market set a price for a second tier free agent and then decide whether to make an equivalent offer. Since Florida has no income tax (hooray!) they have a trump card other market/teams can't play. I don't know that we should be writing off Redmond so soon (realizing of course that the moment I post this, Rotoworld will announce he's signed another team).
