December 3, 200421 yr We ought to be looking at Juan Gonzalez, he's a free agent. He's been injured, so his numbers have obviously been down in recent years. His salary last year was $4 million, so we could probably get him for one year at $2.5 million or maybe even less. If he seems healthy and he's around at the end of the offseason and we still have not filled our need in RF, we ought to go for it.
December 3, 200421 yr How about we sign the spirit of Babe Ruth up to play right field? (Pardon the pun, look hard to see it) :stare
December 3, 200421 yr if he can somehow play 130 games it wouldn't be a bad gamble at all IGOR can easily put monster size number at a very affordable price ... this might not be that bad of an idea
December 3, 200421 yr it would be a semi benitez like gamble.when we first got mando ppl werent sold on him because of his past.if u could get 25-30hr and 80-100 rbi for 2.5 mill i say go for it.
December 3, 200421 yr If they can sign him for a 1 year deal cheap, why not? Pudge had a lot to prove when he signed so does Juan Gone.
December 3, 200421 yr WASTE OF MY TIME. This guys career is done. What you guys forget is that Pudge and Mando are young. This guy is old.
December 3, 200421 yr Did JuanGone even play 20 games this year? If not, he's not worth a major league contract. Oh, he played 33. And 82 and 70 the two years before that. That should merit him a spring training invite too.
December 3, 200421 yr This is much more of a gamble than the Benitez signing, because Juan has had serious injury problems which are not likely to end this late in his career.
December 3, 200421 yr if its for a mere 1.5 mil or so it would be a good gamble 625655[/snapback] That mere 1.5 million is very imporatant to the Marlins. If we're offering 7 mil a year to Pavs, mine as well spend that mere 1.5 mil on his contract. NO MONEY IS MERE FOR THE MARLINS!
