I don't ever see you becoming a GM...

Agreed, if you get rid of Redmond for this guy, you shouldn't even pretend to be a GM. You should be booed until you go hide somewhere.

Alright, now i'm starting to get pissed off by all of these criticisms. Look, I'm just making some suggestions. I didn't say anything about demoting Redmond, I was just commenting that he needs to step up.

The odds are, for a number of reasons, financial, the normal course of things, other opportunities, I don't think you have to worry a whole lot about Banks, Mordecai, Fox and Redman next year or perhaps after July 31st. The objective is to not weaken the team, see if there are ways you can upgrade, and save dollars simultaneously.

Theres lots of Kevin Hooper's out there who seem destined to a utility role. Between Redmond and Fox you're looking at $2 mil or more (Redmond is a FA) in 2004. Those jobs will go to $300k guys so you can free up a quick $1.40 mil. If Pudge stays, Castro is the backup. If Pudge leaves, Castro is one and maybe Matt Treanor is your two guy.

Hollandsworth's time with the Marlins has come to an end. It may come down to needing the roster spot, but they should be able to get some relief by moving him. There's another $1.0 net after replacement.

Next year new faces. Mordy is probably the only one who will stay unless he goes into coaching.

As a GM, I'm sure you know all about the chemistry that exists between starters and subs. On top of all the micromanagement to save a few million you have to make sure the guys you're bringing in can live with their roles.

We'd all like to have a bench of .300 hitters who never make errors and have the right disposition to accept their roles. Its tough to find. Good luck.

Maybe the marlins are goign to deal this going to Baltimore. They are trying to trade Conine and Batista. So they may need this guy. I doubt they got to put him in AAA.

Josh Willingham is someone to look at once he recovers from his injury...I know its only 16AB's but he was batting .500 with 3 homers. I'm excited about this kid.

Any deals we can make to trade Fox or Redmond will be helpful in the payroll dept. I love both these super-subs but we wont be able to afford them next season and we have serviceable backups if we call up Valdez/Hooper to replace Fox. That would also open up either another utility spot or another spot in the pen...I'd take the pen spot.

See, the thing about replacing Fox/Mordecai with Donnels is that I believe Donnels only plays Third (or third and first). Fox and Mordecai back up the middle infield positions, as well as third base. Plus, Lee and Lowell have played every game (or close too it). So the question is: why would you replace someone with versatility on the bench with someone who plays one position that, let's face it, doesn't need a backup? The answer: you wouldn't. See ya in Albuquerque Chris.

The Cubs need a catcher....bad. At least a good back-up at the very least. Bako sucks wind, and Miller is batting a cool .227.

Makes sense, the Fish can dump Redmond and the associated finances, especially since they've decided to carry 17 Catchers on their MLB squad for the last three years.
